yeah, like i said, i think it was my car specifically. it never got out of 1st. i kept expecting it to, but it never did. and to keep it from understeering, i had to be binary on the brakes and throttle.

and from what i heard about the rx8s, the experience very much depended on the instructor that was in the car. the one that was in the red car was very cool. he asked me if i had any autox experience, to which i replied a little. so he kept me at the starting line a little bit longer than usual so that we wouldn't catch the driver in front of us. and from then on, he was more like a co-driver in rallying, just telling me what kind of turn was coming up. at the end he said that i did a very well, and that i was very smooth with the car the next instructor that i got didn't say a word. but he didn't keep me at the starting line, and i actually did catch the rx8 in front of me.

my friend who was there (mcletus on the forum) drives an FD and he much preferred the rx8 to the miata also. and jay (the crazy autox guy that was scoring all the best times) also said that he felt that the rx8 was a faster and better handling car than the miata also. not saying the miata isn't a good car or it doesn't handle well, its just no rx8....well, the miata that i was in sucked, but that's a different matter.

Glyphon, I think the key word for me, personally, is "Fun". I just found the open air, smaller car and the overall sports car feel was more prevalent in the Miata. Maybe it was just because it was different than any thing I've ever driven. It had the feel of driving a go kart. I think if I had turned off the DSC in the 8, I might have had a different opinion.

sorry I missed it...I was pulling an engine out and replacing it all day. My 8 didn't like the cold weather last night either. For some reason it was really flooded when I went to crank it around 7 last night. I'm not really sure why but it just wouldn't crank. It was flooded though b/c it was dumping fuel after it did start. Smelled like pure gas in the exhaust. Hasn't done it before and not since then. Oh well, glad ya'll had fun. Wish I wasn't so far away from all of ya'll so I could do these events with ya'll and not have to make it a whole day trip.

just got home from atlanta, didn't see any of u there, i was there today at 8:30, i agree the rx8 course sucked, not long enough, the miatas were fun as hell though, i used to own a miata so it felt comfortable, my times in the miata were in order: 44.55---43.9---43.44----43.0 though on the last one i hit a cone while setting up a corner, they wanted to give me the zoom-zoom hat at the exit but i took the Bose ink pen, the hats were ugly. sorry i didnt see any of u there.---also i was pissed cuz there was a guy there that i stood in line with that was posting 42s and his last run was a 41.8! he was good, so i didnt get the best time of the hour/day whatever.--also i was parked right up front where the turbo miata was, silver with fender strakes.

Awesome times wankleman! Was the guy getting the 41's a dark skined Asian guy? If he was then he is probably the same guy that was setting the standard yesterday. Did anyone get their corners clipped today?

no, it was a soft spoken tall white guy, he cheated though, he was there the day before too, said he drove up from Panama City. i just went to the zoomzoom site and they don't have the times and picture up yet. i brought my father as a guest, he was fired up cuz i was killin him, his best time was like a 46.5 or something. oh and yeah a man with his wife got his card clipped, he spun out and procedded down the track backwards! also did anybody see the stupid woman that ran over the big cones and dragged them down the track, she had like 4 under the car, they had to retire that car for awhile. some people...

LOL, a lady did that yesterday. When she got back to the staging area everyone applauded and embarrassed her. She turned red faced pretty quick.

It will be Wednesday before the info and pics are up.

They will put up only one. It will be the either run 1 or 2 depending on which was your best time. None of the others counted.

there are autocross opportunities up in this area, there is one on October 30th, at the Gwinnett County Fairgrounds.

^the link to the site for signing up if you want. I will be there, not sure if anyone else is going. That also shows the couple of other events that are left for the season.

Sounda like you guys had a lot of fun, I wish I could have made it. Oh well, next year.

im pissed, they put up my guest's best time instead of mine, he's best was a 46 something, even my point card shows that ALL my times beat the target time which was 44.5, hell my first run matched that time exactly at 44.55, and my second run which would of counted as the best was a 43.9, stupid mazda

I think my best time was in low 46's. I was very impressed with the MX5. I wished they had a better course for the RX8--there were bumps and uneven areas all over the course. I had a blast though--walked out with a model MX5 and my g/f got a pen!

as far as i'm aware of, there isn't a gallery of pictures to look at. just a single picture of us as we are going over the rolling start line on one of our miata runs...ie, i can only see my single picture when i log in.

trhoads, you gotta back up to page 3 and look at the images I posted. I've got about 60 more but I think I'll hold off on those.
