wow your getting alot more mileage than me. But i have been thinking and i have a theory. Whenever i got the car back from mazda, the gas light was on "E" and the needle was on the very last notch. So i went to the first gas station that i could get to and filled up. After i filled up with premium gas the total was $48 @ about 4 bucks a gallon which equals 12 gallons which is 25% less than what its supposed to be. (Keep in mind that we have a 16 gallon tank.) So now, a day later the needle is 3/4 full and ive driven about 36 miles which equals 12mpg. This is 25% less the average mpg in the city. So what im thinking is that my fuel gauge meter is inaccurate and that once its on "E", theres actually about 4 gallons left in the tank. Ive read that other ppl have had problems and that there are two sensors on either side of the gas tank and one or both must not be working right.

I think I usually have about 2 - 3 gallons left once the light comes on. I guess just make sure everything is fresh like coils, wires, plugs, and air filter. Cleaning the MAF and ESS sensor wouldn't be a bad idea, but probably doesn't effect the MPG too much. Nice pics by the way. I was so close to buying a WB when I was first looking at them. Found my Brilliant Black beauty though and couldn't turn her down.

A photo of when I first got her.

I'm looking at spacers as well coming soon. John did you roll the fenders yourself? The 8 just hit the 30K mile mark, looking to pick up the BHR ignition kit now. Interesting bit of info I found out recently, Mazda came out (while ago) with a FWD rotary.

I wish I still had a job. I found some new wheels I want, but can't afford them without selling my current wheels. It's kind of hard to sell my wheels when I don't have another set to roll around on temporarily. That and who knows if anyone would buy mine?! I miss having money haha.

John your car looks amazing!! im loving the wheel and the stance you have. looks great and has come along way since the stock days. be glad you dont have a job and can enjoy that nice car without working! My mods will be coming VERY slowly as I am getting married in about 6 weeks and need all the extra cash i can get haha

Yes I did roll the fenders myself. It isn't hard if you can get ahold of a eastwood fender roller. It just takes time and patience. The BHR kit is great! I bought it from a member in Wilmington during last semester.

Thank you, I appreciate your kind words. I do love my car and am in no way unhappy with it. I just always want to change it up a bit. It was a long slow process to get mine where it is now. I am coming up on 3 years of ownership and the process is still going! Congratulations on the marriage and hopefully that doesn't affect your modding process haha. Past girlfriends of mine always said I paid more attention to my car than them. They just don't understand!

They are 25mm spacers. thanks for the recommendation on these John!

Galatians 2:20 07-30-2013 11:05 PM

although they did come slightly banged up because i did the free standard shipping. one spacer had the inner ring slightly bent and i used some pliers to bend it back and it kinda cut or split the the metal a little bit. this shouldnt have any affect on how they hold up should it?
the two lighter marks are the indents where i used the pliers. the left side is where the slit in the metal is.

Johnvx1k 07-31-2013 09:54 AM

Awesome! That shouldn't affect the spacer at all. When you going to throw them on??

RedFrame 07-31-2013 11:40 AM

If those can be used on the stock setup....damn I want some.

They can, but I would go with 20mm on the stock setup.

Why 20mm now? You told me in an earlier post to get 25mm.

You said you wanted to lower it. 25mm will work fine on a stock setup. It just won't have the sunk effect like you want. Once you lower it, yes it will sink in. Sorry, I didn't mean to freak you out. You should be fine.

Galatians 2:20 07-31-2013 10:27 PM

hmmm oh okay sorry i must have misread it. It looks like im not gonna be able to lower it for a while. With wedding expenses it wouldnt be too smart for me to drop 800 on the coils, as much as I want them. And what do you mean when you say sunk effect? Are you saying if im stock then 20mm, but if im lowered then 25mm? Just wondering why the spacer size would change whether I am lowered or not.

Galatians 2:20 07-31-2013 10:28 PM

should I send these back and get 20mm if im keeping stock setup? I was planning on throwing these on prob fri or sat but ill keep them in the box if it would be better to return them for 20mm

RedFrame 07-31-2013 11:55 PM

When you do, use a torque wrench and make sure everything is even.

RedFrame 07-31-2013 11:56 PM

I do want to go lower but the stock wheels are a good size and actually quite light so I don't see a reason to change them unless I find a crazy deal.

The more you lower a car, the more aggressive a wheel you can run. Not sure if that makes sense. Right now my wheels are pretty flush, but if I raise up my car they will be poking out past the fender A LOT. Lowering the car causing the wheels to sink in more. It's up to you really on the spacers. 25mm should be fine on stock setup, but they might poke a little. I say throw one on carefully (perhaps tape it up to ensure you don't damage them more) and see how they fit. The only time you might rub is in the rear if you hit a big dip. Also depends on how well your suspension is. I have noticed that the rear OE suspension likes to sag on some 8s.

Oh yeah this is very important. I got caught up do some last minute car work before I had to go to work and forgot to tighten down one wheel. I got lucky and didn't loose it, but it was real wobbly and I could feel it.

OE wheels are decent. I like the way they look and they are in the middle range as far as weight. For a 8 inch wide wheel they are a tad on the heavy side though. Enkei RPF1s in 17x9 weigh like 5 - 7 pounds less per wheels and they are an inch wider. Obviously I don't car about wheel weight (my 18x10.5s weigh like 25 - 27 pounds each). I stuck with the OE wheels for awhile with spacers and really liked the look. Hell even some mazda 3 owners run our wheels cause they like them so much.

I agree, I think I'm going to paint mine first before looking for another set. I like how the 40th Ann wheels look. Galatians were you able to set up those spacers?

no not yet. I have actually been in raleigh all weekend. still emailing the ebay seller back and forth because i might go with 20mm instead.

Galatians 2:20 08-04-2013 11:01 PM

ive also been thinking of returning one pair of them and having 25mm in the back and 20mm in the front since the back fenders stick out a little more than the front fenders. any thoughts about this? also, would 20mm spacers need any modifications or would they be a direct bolt on like the 25mm?

royalfitz 08-05-2013 09:36 AM

John if you want I got my stockies with little tread left you can roll around on for a while. If you wanna buy them too im sure we could fogure out a fair price considering I have no need for them really
