I'm pretty sure I know how to get to Falls Lake, but we should hook up with them somewhere in town so we end up at the same site.

hough2696 05-30-2007 08:13 AM

I'll have to mapquest Falls Lake to know where I'm going.....But we need to know exactly whats goin down 1st.

mrthundercleese 05-30-2007 05:02 PM

Alright, plans almost set. Here's the deal.

Saturday June 9th, meet at Sonic ~6 for normal Raleigh meet.

Sunday June 10th, grillout at Falls lake. Time and exact falls lake location still TBD. If you guys want to meet up in somewhere before falls lake thats cool with me.

Here's the current signup sheet we have over in the saturdays in raleigh thread on the rx7club (click me).

If you think of anything we missed, add it. There is a good possibility that there will be some back road wandering after we eat.

We're still looking for more stuff to do as a group other than just hang out with the cars all the time. Got any ideas? share :).

edit: Updated stuff list

BOBBY!!! Looks like I'll be doing some driving that weekend. If there is anything you need me to bring, let me know. Sounds like a fun weekend planned.

Pink Flea 05-31-2007 12:59 AM

Notears, glad you found your nitrous. You heading up to Raleigh for the weekend? Would love to meet up and join you for the drive but I need new tires, dont know if they would make it.

marcus321 05-31-2007 08:10 AM

hey, im new to the club but i got a mazda 3 atm, hope to have an rx-8 within the next 10 days or so. I am in raleigh now and go to school at nc state.

hough2696 05-31-2007 08:11 AM

Do you have a specific 8 in mind? Welcome to the forum!

marcus321 05-31-2007 08:37 AM

ya, 2005 velocity red w/ 6600 miles on it. its an auto but thats ok with me since i like the rx-8 for style and handling not high end speed. i am buying it from someone in raleigh for 17.3k

hough2696 05-31-2007 08:44 AM

DUUUUUUUUUUUDE, If I may interject......Dont get an auto!!!!!! Youll be so sorry if you do, even if you cant drive a standard.....learn. Just my piece of useless advice.

marcus321 05-31-2007 09:19 AM

lol i can drive an manual but the problem is i live right at nc state(alot of hills and stoplights) and I work in downtown raleigh where you get caught at every light. I was driving a manual before as my other spare car and it sucked in this part of raleigh. if i was back at home i wouldnt think a second about it.

hough2696 05-31-2007 09:22 AM

I guess I can see your point, but I think you will regret an AT. Reguardless of lights or hills, in the long run- if you truly like a manual- you should get one......

marcus321 05-31-2007 09:30 AM

i would really consider it if i could find a manual similar in price and milage. since im a student im on a little budget. i think it will be ok for 2 years until i graduate.

hough2696 05-31-2007 09:31 AM

You'll still luv it!!

marcus321 05-31-2007 09:36 AM

on the side note, know anybody who wants a mazda 3, w/ borla exhaust and racing pipe, f5 intake, Fn01r-c (anodized Silver)(15pound wheels) in perfect condition with Falken Ziex Ze 512 225/45/17, tinted windows. for only 15k lol

Agent of Chaos 05-31-2007 09:37 AM

Very cool Marcus, hope it works out getting the 8 soon. I've also got an auto-8 for that very same reason. Actual it was because of city driving in Jacksonville, Florida. Much worse that Raleigh here, but still the same concept. It gives you what you want for city and high traffic driving, but has just enough umph for the other times like country road driving.
Anyway com check out our meets sometime, even if you don't have your 8 yet.

hough2696 05-31-2007 09:41 AM

Agent, are you in the pack in Raleigh?

Agent of Chaos 05-31-2007 09:42 AM

yep, been here about 2 years now.

hough2696 05-31-2007 09:47 AM

Hows the group? I'm thinking of going up there with Tears; truth be told it makes me nervous........

Agent of Chaos 05-31-2007 09:59 AM

Overall it's a pretty good group of people. There has been its fair share of drama lately, but that's to be expected with such a large diverse group of people.
I would definitely recommend at least checking out a meet or two to see for yourself. In fact the upcoming grill out would be perfect. The first meet I showed up for was the Falls Lake grill out they had two years ago; I had lots of lots of fun meeting new people and found out so much about the rotary engine. And since then, over the past 2 years I've made a lot of great friends.

hough2696 05-31-2007 10:05 AM

Sounds Cool, I'll try to make it up there....Hopefully Tears will come too. Besides, drama is everywhere and pretty much unavoidable.......I can handle myself. Thanks for the heads up.

marcus321 05-31-2007 10:25 AM

i wouldnt mind checking it out as long as they dont mind a mazda 3 being there if i dont get my rx-8 in time lol...i might get alot of hate for having a piston engine :)

hough2696 05-31-2007 10:25 AM

I got cho bak!!!

I8U 05-31-2007 10:27 AM

Sup Gary? Thanks for talking us up!

Rachael, we really are a great group...I've been with the group for about a year and half. The best group of people you could ever meet, IMO. You and tears should make it up next weekend, it should be a blast!

Well, I'll be driving up my wife's 3 next weekend until I get my plates back!

Pink Flea 05-31-2007 10:28 AM

Hey Hough, Im in Fayetteville too.. Im thinking about going up this weekend as well. Let me know if you want to meet up and drive up together. Im kinda nervous about driving up as well. Marcus, I lived in Raleigh last year and drive a manual.. Trust me, its worth it! Have you looked in Fayetteville? I know of two used ones for sale right now. I can go look at them to get the specifics if you would like. I know one is gunmetal and I think the other was Blue if I remember correctly.

hough2696 05-31-2007 10:29 AM

I'm not familiar w/ Raleigh but I'm gonna try to go up there as of right now. Whats the worse that could happen...............you ever noticed that as soon as someones says that, something bad happens! I'm screwed...Oh well......

I8U 05-31-2007 10:30 AM

The meet is next weekend...just wanted to make sure you guys didn't drive up here to find no one there!

hough2696 05-31-2007 10:32 AM

Oh Pink, that sounds awesome!!!! Wheres Tears today......he'd love to know you live here too!!! Were trying to recruit more 8's here in Fayettenam but so far they're all stuck up......booooooooooo.

marcus321 05-31-2007 10:34 AM

sure that would be great if you could find anything about them. Its hard for me to shop outside of raleigh. I dont even really get to look much in raleigh either because i am so busy most of the times. Most of my car shopping is done online lol.

We even have a Trans am that shows up and we accept him:)
So a Mazda 3 is more than welcome.

Pink Flea 05-31-2007 10:34 AM

Ahh, I knew him before he even lived here! Sorry I8U, I meant next weekend. Hough, what color is your 8? Im always keeping an eye out for others but WOW, people are stuck up! Ive waved and honked a few times and no response.

I feel your pain...there are a ton of 8's here in Goldsboro but no one ever wants to get together.

hough2696 05-31-2007 10:35 AM

I def know of a WB 04( I think ) for sale....let me know if you want me to stop and look @ it for you.

hough2696 05-31-2007 10:36 AM

I have the VR with the X-Men wing..........not my choice!

Pink Flea 05-31-2007 10:37 AM

Awww, Will my 8 be accepted even if my tires look like they are racing slicks? LOL.. If anyone knows where I can get 2 tires(cheap) that would be awesome!!

Pink Flea 05-31-2007 10:38 AM

I will keep an eye out for ya.. Mine is just plain ol' black... With pink calipers

hough2696 05-31-2007 10:39 AM

I kept two of my old stock tires.....let me know

Pink Flea 05-31-2007 10:40 AM

Seriously.... Thats what I need. I actually saw the belt in my tire yesterday

I8U 05-31-2007 10:40 AM

Janna, didn't you need tires like a couple of months ago? I remeber you talking about that before on the MSCCNC site...haha! But no we don't care, hell some of us would prefer to run slicks...

Wwe even get that around Raleigh. I've seen a Velocity Red lately where the driver is just so zoned out she doesn't seem to see anything around her.
I saw a Whitewater Pearl driving down 40 this past sunday and the driver was busy putting on makeup.
I did see another VR that actually nodded as I passed him along Millbrook though.

We 8 owners are used to slick tires. Seems like as soon as you drive it off the lot the tires need replacing:)

I8U 05-31-2007 10:44 AM

Gary, speaking of tires...have you decided about my autoX proposal???

Pink Flea 05-31-2007 10:45 AM

Yes I8U.. I did need tires a few months ago... Shoot.. I needed new tires a year ago!

Which one are you thinking of attending? lately I've really wanted to get out and push my car towards it's limit again. I didn't really want to get into the points auto X yet, but doesn't look like the MSCCNC will be putting on another class anytime soon, so I guess it's onto the points series - who cares if I'm last as long as I have fun:)

I'm going to the one in July and August but I think that's it. The one in Sept, is the same weekend as BOTD and one in Oct is during GT Live, but I'm doing the Time Trials at GT Live and possibly working for SpeedSource!!!

I here ya, it took me a while to finally put on some new shoes! But after a near collision at VIR I decided to get some new rubber right away. Oh and by the way, you can call me Nic.

NoTears316 05-31-2007 11:01 AM

Well, this has been an active group. I'm actually working today so wasn't able to get on teh internets until now. I will definitely make it up for the cook out. Janna, did you have your surgery yet, or was it postponed again? It's nice to know you'll be able to make it. Last I heard from you, you were out of town.

The Fayetteville crew will have to meet up somewhere and convoy up, that way if we get lost, we'll all be lost together. Let me know if I should bring anything.

mrthundercleese 05-31-2007 11:58 AM

Holy tons of posts Batman! I go away for a morning and come back to a flood of posts haha. Looks like we will have a good group for the cook out.

marcus321 05-31-2007 12:04 PM
