Exclamation South Florida Helmet HELP!

I never realized what a nightmare it is to locate a shop with a selection of helmets you can choose from. Now I know what your going to say...Why don't you go to a bike shop and talk to them? Well, I did and they only have bike helmets. I know they will do but I really want to get a car helmet...It makes a difference I think. Especially from some of the designs I've seen online. Some car helmets have a tendency to have a more panaramic view so you dont have to turn your head so much to see out of your mirrors etc.

I dont want to order online without making sure it fits ok. I went to a bike shop and they showed me a SHOEI which was really nice...All black and mean. It fit nice and everything but I felt the viewing area was limmited and it was slightly tight in the cheak and ear area. I even tried the next size up and it felt the same with the exception that the forehead room was more ample but I did not care about that so much.

So to my question...FOR THE LOVE OF MIKE, CHRIS, BOB, or WHOEVER! Can someone PLEASE tell me if there is a shop in South Florida that sells CAR race Helmets???

Some of the helmets I am looking into:

Good Helmet

Favorite Helmet for price - Huge viewing area...AWSOME!

I like this one just as much but too expensive

i will let you know, my buddies bought some since we go (or used to go) Autoxing often. Just curious you want an open faced or closed face? And how much are you looking to spend?

I want a closed face Helmet in Jet Black for around $300. Also, I'd prefer it to be Snell rated at SA2005.

I saw one online that I really liked that had a panaramic view lense. In other words you dont have to turn your head to see your mirrors etc. I will try an post a link to the helmet I saw.

Most important thing is to know where the shop is. So I can go and do some choppin.

Thanks!

Examples (2nd helmet is the best example):

Good Helmet

Favorite Helmet for price - Huge viewing area...AWSOME!

I like this one just as much but too expensive

there is a place in downtown Miami that sells them. I can't remember the name of it for the life of me though. I bought my OMP helmet there.

You can also go to Speed and Truck World on Sunrise Blvd, just east of I-95 in Ft. Lauderdale. I am not sure if the prices are competitive, but that is where I got mine several years ago. You can also try Murry's Speed and Custom on 441 just south of the Golden Glades interchange.

You guys rock!!

I was about to go into Speed and Truck world this weekend but I got there 30 min after they closed so I could never check it out. Looks like I am going there this weekend. I might check out Murry's as well.

Thanks again!

I'm about to order the Konis adjustable shocks with S - Tech spring combo offered by DPE forum vendor. I can't wait to start racing!

So hopfully by next month in time for auto-x I should have the following installed and ready...

Koni shocks - Ordered
Tien S-Tech springs - Ordered
Racing Brake 2pc drilled slotted rotors - Front installed
245/40/18's Kumho MX - Installed
Revi ram scoop - Ordered
K&N air filter - Installed

Hay! Anyone have any experience with a CG Lock? I was thinking about getting one.

Thanks!

CG lock is good, but it does not fit all cars. Just call them and make sure that someone has put one on a RX8. Come and say hi when you come out to race.

- Thanks for the info! What's your name? I am sure there will be a few MX-5's racing out there.

- I don't remember saying I was getting the yoko's. I just heard good things on the Kum-Hoe's and they were the right price and the right tread life so I got them. After driving on them the only thing killing my confidence when driving the car hard is the body roll. Other than that the tires feel great. I do notice though what others have said...The tires grip great but there is a little to much side wall flex. On the other hand I have not tried to play with the tire preasures yet. I want to try and increase the preasure to 38 lbs...This should counter the sidewall flex. Also, keep in mind that the flexing issue is barely felt and not a huge thing. I think it may be due to how soft the tire compound is. Its so soft in fact that when I drive the car in the mornings the tires have a flat spot (from sitting over night) for the first 5 min of driving and go's away.

Thanks man! What I think I am going to do is try on the helmets at a local store(probably a Simpson) and buy it online as its much cheaper that way. I might buy a used one from Ebay.

My name Doug, but I also go by DJ. Just look for my Miata, there are not that many '99s out there. Alex knows who I am, so just have him bring you by (If you know who he is).
