Hey short-timer! See ya soon for that Naples/Ft Myers meet.
Your first one to organize when you get back.

Better hurry back Zoomster. If I get the buy-back letter I only have 30 days to make a decision. Will be putting lot's of miles in the mean time. :D

Tom,

Are you serious about taking the buyback? I understand, if you want to do that and then turn around and try to get a better deal on it. But I'm a little surprised, on the other hand, that you won't keep it since you have enjoyed it thus far - until the revised HP numbers came out.

Mark, It's more of a financial decision it really has nothing to do with the HP. I don't recall ever complaining about the HP. I think the car is pleanty fast. As evident by my recent posts my big concern is the MPG. With the cost of gas ever climbing I figured with my normal driving patterns and (only) $1.70 for premium, it will cost me around $100 (conservative) extra a month over my other car. I love the RX-8 and will be defending it to my death as a great car. If the MPG improves to even 19-20 I will probably opt for the incentives and keep the car. I mentione in another thread that maybe we can get some extras from the dealer to save them some extra work in returns and egg on the face. Only time will tell. But I'll enjoy it while I have it. :D

Tom,

I understand. I hope you didn't take offense to calling you greedy, since I meant it as a joke. We all would like to have more "icing" on our cakes.

As for you MPG, I hope it improves to the point you feel you want to keep the car rather than use the buyback. I would hate to have my car and then I be the one waiting for you (till you got your replacement RX), so we two can meet with our cars.

Enjoy what you have. :D

So...can we get a tally of how many ppl are where? this way we can maybe organize a "local" meet up, which won't require much sacrifice of others in terms of making a long drive or anything. And at the same time, for those who still want to coordinate a longer distanced meet, we can get a better idea of which area has more ppl...so we can be like, "Well we have more ppl over here, why don't you drive to us?"

Oh, BTW add me to the Orlando list...

Lakeland meeting?

How about a Lakeland Hooter's meeting? It's about halfway between Tampa and Orlando. Some night after work would be great, or a weekend.
If I still have mine when Zoomster gets back I'm sure he'll join in.

Since I haven't had one for about 7 years now, it's never a requirement

Well I've had my wife for 22 years, and I'll definately keep her around. I may joke around, but seriously she's a requirement for me. It wouldn't be the same without her.

As for meetings and gatherings, I'll be pretty tied up for a couple weeks after I get back 1 Oct. Need to spend time, getting reaquainted with the wife, after being away for a year. .

I plan on going down to South Beach, one of our favorite places the first week, and then coming back home to chill out in my pool, we just built. So if we gather or meet sometime in the first few weeks of October, I'll try to fit it in my schedule.

Talking

Hi RX 8 Owners,

I live in S. Florida and got mine 2 weeks ago (Black). I was not on any waiting list. I walked into the dealer and fell in love with the one in the showroom. I still haven't seen another one on the road.

Just wanted to say Hello! I am definitely enjoying the car.

Viv

ViviMiamiRX8luv,

Welcome to the club! Enjoy your new ride. :D

Hopefully there will be a day in the near future when we all can organize a gathering and/or an event where we can meet one another and swap RX-8 "war stories".

Include me too, as I live in Miami. My schedule can be a little rough because of my job. I will try to adapt for any type of RX-* meeting.

Dunno I'd be interested too.

A nice Miami to Orlando run and back would be fun on a weekend.

Just make sure the guys in the front and back have good radar detectors!

We had been waiting for Zoomster to come back from the gulf, but he sorta disapeared. But if you all are up for it, lets plan something out.

We could meet up at the Turnpike service station up in North Broward if you want. Cruise the Turnpike to Orlando (stopping for gas, LOL), meet up with Orlando guys, come back down, and then the Orlando guys could go back up.

If we do that we'd need a pretty early start so the Orlando guys could still get back home at a decent time. Maybe like 8am or something.

Or something like that.

The only question is would Turnpike or I-95 be better? Either is fine with me but just in case anyone is finicky about Toll costs...

Zoomster came back in October and was enjoying his time with family and car (not exactly in that order) :-). Last I saw him was at a local car meet back in Nov.
