had the opportunity to stop in a fave little rest. in Little Switzerland, NC on the way back from the Dragon. They had 10" of rain last Tuesday night. Newland NC up the road had 17". Parts of the Bluegrass Parkway have been closed because of mud slides taking out parts of the road - at least 3 sections from what I saw glancing at the printout they had at the shop from the NPS.gov (Nat'l Park Service) website. That was real close to the Gap! Glad they didn't get that around Robbinsville! A lady in the restaurant said she just got out for the first day on Sunday, since Tuesday, because her road was washed out as well. And 221 is closed too (maybe that's where she lives, don't know)...
