Racers Edge Motorsports Open House December 6, 2008



Over this past “Rolex Series” race season I have discussed with Mr.Jon Mirachi, owner of Racers Edge Motorsports, the possibility of having his team involved in a Rotary4Life event. Since Rotary4Life is rotary race inspired website we decided that it would be a great experience for enthusiasts to see what makes a Rolex team competitive. On December 6, Mr. Mirachi will be opening his doors to us and would like to share the experience of his Rolex team.



Who is Racers Edge?

“Racers Edge Motorsports is a professional auto racing team with a long history of success dating back to our first season of competition in 1990. Our team has won championships in every race series we have participated in, including four professional championships and seven amateur titles. We have established ourselves as one of the premier teams in North America, with achievements in both open wheel racing and sports cars.
A small, close-knit company, Racers Edge Motorsports is a full service organization with expertise in all aspects of race team operations; from mechanical preparation, chassis engineering, data analysis and driver development, to the design and execution of motorsports marketing programs. With over 17 years in business, we have the experience, skills and knowledge to make it all work, and our results prove it!
For the 2008 racing season, our team will compete in the Grand-Am Rolex Series, which is a series of sports car endurance races which vary in length from 2 to 24 hours. We will compete for the championship in a specially built, race prepared Mazda RX-8.”

What have they done to their car?
Racers Edge has produced a car that boasts these main features: a strong tube frame chassis, lightweight carbon fiber body, 425 hp aluminum 3-rotor rotary motor, 6-speed sequential shift transmission, all of which weighs in at a mere 2,288 lbs.

What will we be doing at there facility?
As of right now we will have access to tour the new Racers Edge facility, participate in a tech talk and demonstration on the car as well as a tech talk and overview of data acquisition and how they use the collected information. Then Racers Edge would provide food and refreshments for everyone to enjoy.
There is still more to come that is currently in its initial stages, but we would like you guys to come out and enjoy yourselves. Let us know who plans on attending so we can make the appropriate arrangements.

The time has tentatively been set to begin at 11 and end at 4.

We have a few sponsors for the event that will be providing giveaways along with some stuff that will be provided to you at the door (while supplies last). If you are a sponsor that would be interested in participating in this event in some facet please pm me with anything you have in mind.

We have had a few sponsors sign on for the event such as Mazda, Polak Graphics and Idimitsu so we should have a bunch of goodies to hand out. We are working on a few more companies to chip in to help out with some of the other things we would like to do. So everyone should take advantage of this great opportunity for everyone to get to know the race team, ask technical/driving/etc questions.

I would like to remind everyone that everything at the event will be free; the food, giveaways, etc. So the only thing you guy have to pay for is the gas to get to the event. Not according to Eric's post immediately after the Classic event on the Rotary4Life site:

"Details on Spring Palooza 2009 in March coming soon. I can say that Classic Mazda has already given the word, we will be having it there!"

That sux. The only time I've honestly had fun at a Palooza, was WinterPalooza '07 at a park in Sanford. ****** blast. Probably because StreetUnit was more or less coordinating it.
Besides, a track event doesn't really fit into his concept of a car show. Plus, tracks cost money, that would eat into profits. I'm shocked that he isn't having it at the shitty *** Quaker stake again.
