you might need to define fast, and maybe the speed at which you can travel. We won't be flying down I16 at 100+, no sense in that, it is heavily patrolled, and pointless. But we wil be moving along, depends on who is leading, probably me, since I don't know of anyone else having a radar detector, but I am open to anyone leading the pack. 5 RX-8's and a 350Z in a line on the interstate is bound to get the attention of the local law in the areas we pass through. No sense getting to know there names and badge numbers.

Yep, not much longer now, I started packing all my gear last night. Need to get a couple extra quarts of oil, and a couple of other small items, and I will be good to go.

I have one too, but I plan on just matching speeds with you and hitting the cruise control. I'm going to have to play the "Convoy" song by CW McCall on the stereo again during this trip.

Fast to my wife is 70mph. Thats the reason! LAst year the convoy was at times cruising at 90, most of the time it was only 75-80 but at times it was blowing the carbon out!
She will be going straight to the hotel also. No excitment in Teching if you are not part of it.
So are we all meeting at the Spring St exit? About what time --3:30Pm or so. Can we make it a little earier? I am off work that day so I am open. Tech starts at 5:30--right.
Really think they will enforce the long sleeve thing for us? Understand racing but for us HPDE? taking one just in case.
Mooddude in 1? dang --- wish he could run with us--love to be on the track with that monster he has.
How many cars in 1-2-3? Anyone know?
Are we there yet.
Happy, happy ,joy, joy!

OD, I dont think we can move the Macon meet time up any. I think that is my fault, sorry, I apologize. I have a lot planned that morning for the car, oil change, alignment all that good stuff and I hate breaking up works days to get all that done, I end up so unproductive. So that is keeping me from getting out of here any earlier than we are now. I think the Spring St. exit is fine with me, at around 3:30 PM. And I think that tech opens at 5:30, we should be there pretty close to that, I think we will be good on time, since it stays open till 8.

I think we have 6 8's, the EVO8 and a 350Z.

And the long sleeve thing, be prepared fo it. They did not enforce it at RA in August, because it was brutal hot. But I bet they do for this one, it seems like they are tightening up the procedures a bit, based on some of the new rules and things they are telling us about.

Maybe we can just blow off the meeting in Macon? We can meet at the track. It is up to y'all. I am fine with either way. If we leave our meeting point in Atlanta on time at 2pm, being at the I-16 suggested meeting point by 3:15ish shouldn't be hard...
I dunno... Y'all decide and I will go with the flow.
Making tech on Friday will be easy. We have plenty of time to get to the track, teched and chill out a bit before hitting the road to the hotels and dinner.

I would definately plan on a long sleeve shirt. If they didn't mean it, they wouldn't have made a point of telling us.

well, getting there earlier only lets you go to the hotel and unload before tec. tech does not open till 5:30.

If everyone that can leave earlier wants to leave earlier, by all means, don't let me hold you up. I can get down there, and meet up with everyone whenever. I have driven form ATL to savannah and back a couple hundred times. So, please, don't let my schedule determine anything. I just want some track, and the wait is killing me.

I am fine with our 2pm meeting time/spot. I have stuff I need to get done int eh morning as well since I will be on a business trip tomorrow returning home late Thursday night. Friday is wash car/pack day. I also need to eat prior to a 4 hour drive. It isn't easy maintaining my weight. Man needs food.

Sorry - I won't be running the same group as you all, but I have so much to learn and this is my first NASA event, that I figured HPDE 1 would be better for me.

Can't wait, I got so excited last weekend, that I drove the car around town for two hours just playing with the boost controller. It is running better than ever. I have the boost speed mapped - my boost increases gradually with speed from 0 to 25 mph (so I can maintain traction) and then after 125 mph, I start bringing the boost back down (so I don't kill myself)!

I have lot's of long sleeved t-shirts, I will bring all of them so that if anyone forgets one, they can throw one on. The only problem is they are all dark colors (since I bought them for the winter not summer)!

well, I just received our care package from Bill over at Classic/Grassroots Motorsports. Two new flags to fly at our EZ-UP, what has to be 1000 cards for a free issue of Grassroots or Classic Motorsports magazine, and at least 500 GRM stickers, so anyone that needs a sticker or 12, let me know, I will have them with me. So a big thanks goes to Bill, from all of us in the Georgia RX-8 Club,

Great--I will take a GRM sticker--maybe we can send a group photo to the mag and maybe they will publish it! Hey--lets put all 500 stickers on one car!--that CERTAINLY would be published!
Ok meeting at wendy's at 1515-1530 Friday. Snack for the road and their is a gas station next to Wendys fo those needing to fill up.
Trying to find my smiley face long sleeve shirt.
Gauges are fixed--doing fine. It is amazing what the right part will do versus silicone sealant . HINT--- for anyone thinking of gauges. May sure that the temp gauge you use has fittings that match what is required by your mounting area. RB oil temp adaptor requires a 3/8npt fitting and most mechanical gauges come with a 5/8 npt fitting. The ones you can get from stock at Home depo , Pep boys etc WILL NOT WORK as the flange area is a little differant --this results in a not so good sealing. In other words sooner or later it will leak. The oil pressure side of the adaptor is generic for mechanical hookup--no problems as is the water temp adaptor RB has. No problem with that. Just the oil temp one. AFter all my work on these gauges if anyone is interested in mounting their own --just let me know I will be glad to help out--now that I have done it--it really isnt that hard.
I am glad it is going to be a little warm as I really want to see what the coolant/oil temps are doing on the track.
Track surface will be WARM if ambient temp is 90 and the sun is shineing--be prepared!
Thinking about removing my a/c belt before I get on the track--takes about 2 mins to do.
Thoughts?

OD, you can have as many stickers as you want, trust me, we have plenty. For this weekend, I think we will just tie the two new banners to two of the empty sides of the EZ-UP, since I don't have time to go to home depot to fabricate some poles. Not to mention, I don't know that I have room in the 8 for them anyway. Tying them will work good. OD, I had already planned to take some pictures of the cars and all, so let's see if we can get our group some publication. I volunteer a red car for the sticker job, the GRM sticker has soem red in it, and that would look nice.

OD, why would you remove the A/C belt, don't you drive with the A/C off on the track anyway? Just curious as to what you would gain.

Hey - it isnt raining in Boston today. I tried to rent a boat but all they had was cars and SUVs. I got a Malibu. Now that is a quality car. I still think it would be fun to take around a track. Hell, anything would be fun on a track short of a scooter.

I got a mental image of only having a slit on the window to see between all the stickers.
