So what did you do in terms of getting the engine rebuilt? Are we talking Cosworth or stock Nissan parts?

So what should the caster/camber/toe settings be?

Not a Cosworth but not a totally stock engine. Something that will be just mine.

The alignment settings for you 8 will depend highly on the track you are running. For a technical track such as Mid-Ohio or Barber:
Front Caster : 7 to 8 degrees (it is very important to ensure that both the left and right side are within a 1/4 degree)
Front Camber : -2.2 to -2.35 degrees
Front Toe: 3/32" to 1/8" toe out (make sure each tie rod length is within a 1/16" from left to right)

Rear Camber: -1.8 to -2 degrees
Rear Toe: 1/16" to 1/8" toe in

For a road coarse such with longer straight aways and low speed corners entering the long straight aways such as RA or VIR, everything the same except:
Front toe: 1/16" toe out
Rear toe: zero to 1/16" toe in.

I would not recommend running these numbers on the street unless you really don't care about tire wear.

Thanks for the kind words, glad I could be of assistance. It was fun hanging out at RA, I was planning to only be there for 1-2 hours but I just had to stick around a bit more...

It was great riding with you and feeling the RX-8's (And yours) slick moves through 3-4, 10 A & B, and other corners. (Whilst reeling in a few "hot" cars like M3's and 911's )

I'll have to make one of these BMW club weekends so you can ride with me and enlighten me as well.. Perhaps we could sneek a DE3 session or 2 at this Aug event and ride together

PS MOOD, me thinks your sig has a typo, it says: "My car has more torque than yours does" Shouldn't it say "My car had more torque than yours.. " ? Just kiddin'..

Do you have an ETA as to when it'll be back on the track?

? Chas? maybe. I need to talk to Phlash this weekend, and arrange buying his next coupon he has for RA. I gotta drive there, now that I know they smoothed out a couple areas that worried me. In March, the bump just after apex in turn 5, really upset my car, even at touring lap slow speed, I could not imagine it at full tilt. But now, I gotta. I have not really driven RA in a while.

Howdy ya'll! Yup it's true. We will be out there in August with you and most likely at Barber in September. Don and Donna will be along too so it should be a great group. Panoz this past weekend was just great. The car was very good and worked well all weekend. Steve is MUCH more of a track addict than TA himself. You can't get him to stop for anything. I gaurantee that we could fit him with a feeding tube and catheter and just let him stay in the car and he would be happy.

I drove Don's 3rd gen and it was fantastic. I had a great session in my car with a late model Z06 that had me smiling and his stability control working overtime trying to shake me. I stayed glued to him up to turn 5 and had a nice clean exit right past him and never saw him again. Steve and I are both signed up so I'll probably bring the 8 out for exercise so that I won't be such an outlaw. I may have over 20000 miles on it by then. I can't believe that I have had that car since Aug/03 and only have that mileage on it. It'll be good to be out on the track with ya'll again and see you guys go whizzing past me.

see you soon.

I still have my old backpack, tent, coleman stove, sleeping bag, etc from when I was Boy Scout. They haven't been dusted off in a long time, but they are still around... somewhere...

OK, I just went out and bought a little bigger version of the grill that Val brought. Been wanting one for the camper anyway. I'm pretty sure folded, it will fit in the front seat (I'll test soon-it may be too fat with the tires in the back. I have the truck today). So, we can do Brats on Friday night (and Thursday night for those of you/us that have Friday stuff going on). WooHoo!!! Tent City!!!

Maybe I'll just camp out too. Sounds like a good idea. Might have to do the hotel thing though. I made the mistake of telling the wife that the Mall Of Georgia was near the track.
