OD, he was shifting around 7. Said there was no need to take it up any higher. I wanted him to take it to 9 but I wasn't going to tell him how to drive his car. He said he wants to come up to Roebling when we do NASA next month. We'll see if that happens. If he does, you can count on a ride and could probably ride during touring if you get to him quick enough before someone else does. He drove touring all three days here at RA and he likes to show what it will do.

Did you get your mid-pipe installed?

I took a ride in the Pettit RX8. He shifted at 5-7K and didn't seem to be pushing it hard. His intake charge temp was pretty high at the time as when I met him, he had the car sitting just idling. We spoke a bit about the suitability for track and he said he would add a couple more heat exchangers for such use.
He had the MAF unplugged. He uses the Interceptor for mangement but talked about working on just flashing the stock computer in the future.
I would not SC my car because of my heavy track use. I just don't think the car was designed to hold up under track conditions with FI. IMHO, and it is just my opinion not fact, FI is fine for the street where you stay in boost for 5-10 seconds before you have to let up unless you want to get arrested. On track, you would be in boost for 20 - 30 seconds at a time (like the back straight at Road Atlanta or CMP), then back in it after braking. It is just a whole different ballgame.

Nope! The other half of my financial institution told me I couldn't spend that much on a hobby! Tried to tell her that I could sell it for 3K more than purchase price but it was a definite no.

This area needs a lot more discussion to get to the truth of this. It would also be a deal-braker in my case as well. Good points all, and the 1st reaction from someone in the know about the situation.

I ran mine about as hard as you would at the track at deals gap. Id say you could track it as much as you wanted id just do what Cam said about adding heat exchangers. The kit comes with 2, id add another pair and your charge temps will stay low. At the moment the charge temps are within a few degrees of outdoor temps. Another option I was thinking is a seprate cooler/ ice producer if one can be found to keep up with the demand, im going to try it in the near future.

FI can be done and it is great that we have the pioneers that are sorting this out. Us simpletons really appreciate you!
Once a decision is made to go fi on a non oem fi car---once can better understand the word sinergy. Everything affects the other(true on na cars also but they are not as fragile).
Just depends on what you want. I most definety like the s.c. over the turbo on the 8. Just a personal choice.
It is the engine management that is the hold up in this area. Plus you have to deal with more rotory heat--but that can be done.
I hear RG may be making some low compression rotories for those of you that want to explor the 20lb boost world and the est 400hp that would produce.
Man I DO HOPE THAT CAR AND BUILDER IS AT ROEBLING--that would be so cool. We could learn a lot. Maybe we could share some of our accumulated track wisdom

What do you do with an old fuel pump... refurbish, dissect... hang in your shed for a conversation piece?
