L8APEX 02-26-2007 02:15 PM

umm...hmmm....let me think about it...OK, Im in. :)

nashirak 03-02-2007 01:57 PM

OD told me about this the other day. I think I can swing that off.

Add me to that list.

Will people be staying overnight? Should I be prepared to bring a tent or track down a motel nearby?

L8APEX 03-02-2007 01:58 PM

it is local to most of us, so i will be driving to the track both days.

SilverEIGHT 03-02-2007 02:14 PM

Same here. They do have camping on the infeild if you like though.

SilverEIGHT 03-15-2007 04:48 AM

Time to order your tickets if you haven't already.

http://www.themitty.com/tickets.php

The order form only allows one entry when you click the "add to cart" for your ticket. It takes you to a pay pal page you need to hit the back button to go back to the mitty page and click on the parking add to page then it will put both on your pay pal list. I'm sure they will catch a little flack about that not being obvious. It looks like you can only purchase one item.

SilverEIGHT 03-28-2007 06:27 AM

Only a month away...

TorqueAholic 03-28-2007 06:34 PM

No Brainer.. I am there. Have not missed one in about 8 years..

SilverEIGHT 03-28-2007 06:43 PM

Are you putting the EasyUp in the standard location?

TorqueAholic 03-29-2007 04:06 PM

Sure, we'll most likely bring my cheapo one and Ivan's (It's just like the club's) I guess we could bring the club's as well if we are expecting a bunch of folks.

SilverEIGHT 03-29-2007 05:14 PM

I wonder if they will have a race that was half as exciting as the Mazda race last year.

L8APEX 03-30-2007 06:03 AM

well, Mazda is still the sponsor, so I would not be surprised if they do. I still need to get my tickets, I will be buying them next week. And if I am lucky, the car will appear a little different for the Mitty this year... :)

Looks like I'll be coming again this year!

SilverEIGHT 04-05-2007 02:42 PM

Ryan, I gave my N80 to my son and bought a D200. After seeing yours I had to have one.

BOOSTD 7 04-05-2007 02:59 PM

Haha, pretty sweet huh? I better not let you use my Sigma 120-300mm f/2.8 lens ... unless you have some money burning a hole in your pocket.

I still owe you a few bucks btw, for that tent you bought last year.

SilverEIGHT 04-05-2007 03:51 PM

I'd kill for a 2.8 300! The camera is always the cheep part of the purchase.

That be the clubs EZ-Up. Any acquired $$ go to the kitty.

BOOSTD 7 04-05-2007 04:22 PM

If you want I'll let you play with this thing. You should try it Saturday so you can look at the pics before Sunday and let me know what you think. It's big, but not too big to hand-hold. I also have a 80-200/2.8 I can use, so it's no problem.

BOOSTD 7 04-05-2007 04:25 PM

BTW - Bill from Grassroots told me this year the Tent Party is open to everyone. There's an aution that starts at 4pm Saturday, then the parts starts at 6pm ... they'll be selling food and beers there. So maybe we can all do that instead of going to dinner out Saturday night. Although I sure did like that sushi buffet last year!

Bill also told me there's a MX-5 cup race this year. Anything competitive is fun to watch.

dbright007 04-06-2007 12:12 AM

Damn, I can't make it - sounds like a great weekend.

L8APEX 04-09-2007 06:51 AM

If I am able to make it out this year, it will only be for Sunday. It seems, that I failed to remember a family event on Saturday. So, I might try for Sunday, but don't know.

2Many _RX_s 04-17-2007 09:31 PM

My GF and I will be traveling down for this; hopefully we'll run into you guys.

SilverEIGHT 04-22-2007 12:53 PM

Hey, we are less than a week away. This one has snuck up on me.

TrackAddict 04-26-2007 05:58 PM

Any else planning on being there Friday? I will probably get there around 10am. I'll do track touring with my daughter and head home by 3pm to miss the traffic.

SilverEIGHT 04-26-2007 06:34 PM

No way will I get off Friday. I asked for the 18th off.

Yeah, we'll be there. Though I doubt it will be easy to find us; look for a Winning Blue RX-8.

TrackAddict 04-26-2007 08:50 PM

I'm in a gray RX8 with a big NASA Pro Racing decal on the rear glass.

L8APEX 04-27-2007 07:08 AM

I won't be able to make it out there at all. :( Too much going on.

SilverEIGHT 04-27-2007 08:41 PM

Drove over to purchase my ticket this afternoon. Putted around the infield and when I got to the skid pad... my heart started beating real fast and I almost went for it but I saw two RA guys sitting in a golf kart watching it very closely. That was my cue to stand down. TA took his daughter over today and drove the touring laps... I will be out there tomorrow. Any track time is happy time. Look forward to seeing you guys and maybe driving a mini around the autox track.

Kurt Bob 04-27-2007 08:54 PM

Hey Silver. I'm a little late to this thread, but my wife and I will be there tomorrow. I'll be parking in the infield with the Miatas probably. I'll have my RX-8 there because I couldn't get my Miata repaired in time. Look for me and I'll keep my eye out for you.

By the way - no Minis this year. They are having MX-5's instead.

SilverEIGHT 04-28-2007 07:13 AM

MX-5's fine. Drove them at ZoomZoom Live for the past two years. Guess I'll just have to do it again. Look forward to seeing you again Kurt.

TrackAddict 04-28-2007 07:46 AM

My daughter and I had such a great time yesterday, she is joining me again today. She is looking forward to riding with me in an MX-5 on the autocross course. I don't think I'll drive the touring laps. Maybe OMS will let us ride with him????

SilverEIGHT 04-28-2007 07:50 AM

Yea! I'd love that!

SilverEIGHT 04-28-2007 06:55 PM

Great day at the track today. Saw some good friends, drove Miatas on the AutoX course and tooled around looking at some neat old cars. Did you know they cram Honda VTech engines in the original Mini? How the hell would you keep that on the road?

Tried to do track touring with TrackAddict and daughter but they were sold out of tickets so I bought a ticket for Sunday and we will do it tomorrow. TA Jr'ette told me she is looking forward to driving on Road Atlanta.

Flagged down a Nordic Green 8 and gave the guy driving my card and told him to log onto the RX & GA RX 8 clubs, he said "do you drive an 8" and I said yes. He said, I have something you need to look at and he revved his engine which took on a unmistakable whine that made me almost have an organism. He got out of the car and opened the hood and exposed a supercharged RX-8 with "Pettit" on it. Then started talking about his new developments. At which time KurtBob, 2Many _RX’s and I realized we were talking to the owner of Pettit Racing, Cameron Worth. 2Many took pics and Kurt and I asked a barrage of questions. Then Cameron asked if I wanted to take a ride! eh.... YEA! OH MY GOD! He drove out to the highway and we went down the road about 3 miles and onto a back road before turning around and heading back. That car had some serious torque. You know, that thing we don't have! He shifted much quicker than I would have expected. Usually around 5-7K. Cost is right at $5K. I asked if he had Dyno charts and he went to his trunk and pulled Dynojet results out. I will post them when 2Many gets me the photos. This was just toooooooo cool! He wants all the RX's to go out together tomorrow for track touring.

Shot a few movies with my little point and shoot digital camera. I'll post them later this evening. My wife took my real camera with her so I had to settle for the little guy.

dbright007 04-28-2007 07:20 PM

That is just too cool. Jealousy abounds.
Damn work!

SilverEIGHT, check your email, I sent the pictures of the SC to you.

It's been great to meet all of you!

We'll be there in the morning for a while before we head back to Ohio.

SilverEIGHT 04-28-2007 08:36 PM

OK, I'll check them out. I'm watching the Rolex from VIR right now. Speedsource GT #70 is awesome!

How lucky can you get - meeting up with him there! :yesnod: ...not to mention the ride :Eyecrazy:

Checking out one pic - It looks like the OEM strut bar is slightly bent around the SC plenum - did you notice that and then there is that attachment to the passenger side of the strut bar? ...plus that little canister over there?

Nemesis8 04-29-2007 04:45 PM

Looks all he had to do was to shorten the IC a tad bit and we could have kept the MS bar... damn.

Spin, I got more pics. I'll post em later. I gotta take the wife out to dinner right now. Took bunches of photos of cars also. We went for another ride with Cameron again today. TrackAddict and TorqueAholic got some seat time with him. Great races today, wish more of you guys could have made it down/up/over.

olddragger 04-29-2007 07:55 PM

well my daughter sure owes me a lot now dammit! well-- come to think of it --she already does--and when i hit the nursing home she had better fess up(and she will:). Sure wish I had not missed this good time---but more will come.
Wonder why the petit car didnt have more rpm's? Maybe he does --just doesnt need to use them. Wonder if the upper bands are harder to tune? Wonder what pressure he is using? Temps he is running? etc-etc wonder a hell of a lot.
My daughters new $14468 Mazda I touring, auto, abs, all power is sure nice. Couldnt turn it down for that price--plus her s-40 was starting to blow turbo smoke(147K)---cost a lot to try and keep your daughters safe.
Oh well --out to the shed to blow rotor sounds through my viking horn midpipe.
