I've always gone to dealership (when under warranty) but now, I just do my own minor maintenance. I'm dreading the day that I will have to get major work done.
I used to live near "Sports and Compacts" on Hillsborough Street (near the Fairgrounds). I stopped by there a number of times and they seemed to be very knowledgeable about the rotary. They would be a good place to start IMO...they might be able to lead you to the directions you are looking.
Where about in Raleigh do you live? I'm in N. Raleigh around Mini-City...BB.
Cheers

Hey Guys... just purchased an 04 RX8 2 weeks ago and so far have installed a new B&B exhaust, AEN CAI and Racing Beat gauges (replaces the ashtray). I also replaced the plugs/wires and had the oil changed. I used to live in Apex, now I'm in Holly Springs.
So what does S&C do? Mechanical and body work? I am throwing around the idea of a body kit and was wondering if you know of a good body/shop-paint/shop in the area...

I haven't gone to S&C yet, I may have to go to the stealership since I'm technically still under warranty. 2004 with only 27K miles. So my 30K service should still probably be done at the a dealership.

I would not recommend Sport Durst / Millenium Mazda in Durham, based on my experiences with a 2005 Mazda 6s. I don't know about Capital Mazda in Cary... they seem okay.

I'm going to try giving these folks some business and we'll see how they do.

I agree, avoid Sport Durst Mazda like the plague. They tried ripping me off, recommended I replace clutch for $1600. I took my car to another mechanic and they found the pedal came off the firewall, so I took the car to Capital Mazda hoping it could be replaced under warranty. Sport Durst tried to charge me $90 to diagnose a clutch replacement and rip me off for $1600.

Southern states sucks, I took my car there to get a mazmart engine installed and I supplied BHR's ignition and they reversed the spark plug wires, underfilled the oil to where 50 miles down the road my oil light came on, and checked it out to find oil was a quart or so short. They also neglected to torque down my AC compressor to the point where two bolts fell out and one got stuck in the steering rack u-joint.
