Tom Bush has a black and a red 6 speed GT at their dealership. They have not been released yet. General Manager says they received strict instructions from Mazda for them to follow. He says it's a difficult situation right now because everyone wants to look at them and test drive them and they are restricted from doing so. Tom Bush presold 19 RX-8s. He says I should receive my car during the 5th week of July. He stated that's probably a good thing I wasn't one of the first to arrive.

That's my red one in the showroom and Kahn, the SalesJerk Mgr wouldn't deliver it to me. I called Mazda, and Kahn calls me back b*tching at me for calling them..They didn't call me, I had a mole tell me they're there. Hopefully, I get her tomorrow, if not I may walk. Can you imagine, wait nearly 7 months and walk away 1 day before you can have it. I know I'd have to re-order to get the car I want from another dealer.

*deep breath, repeat*

Khan's a know-it-all *** that gave me a 'ttude when I bought my wife's Protegé 5 up there. Of course, I was trying to haggle him down to a ridiculous price, but hey(!) he should be used to that!

BTW, I'm leaving for the Bahama's Thursday, when I get back, would you mind if we all get together? A meeting if the 7s and 8s? We have a very strong group here in North Florida and want our 8 brothers and sisters on board! :D

I'll be arranging the bigger BBQ for sometime in September.

Hey JAXFL_RX8 your car is gorgeous! I stopped by Tom Bush Mazda this afternoon to take a look. The only thing open was the trunk. Good size too. The black one had its hood open. A couple of people in the showroom when I got there, but no one sat in either car. Got a chance to speak with the GM and Khan. Both of them are really nice guys and they're both trying to make you happy while dealing with a difficult situation. From what I understand, they were also affected by the order in which they're receiving their cars. My VIN is 1797 and somehow Mazda included in their second allocation shipment when I thought it was going to be in the first. It's unfortunate you can't pick up your car yet....I'd also be upset if I were you. But you have to put into perspective that Mazda Corporate has given them strict instructions to follow. In addition to those instructions, Mr. Bush has also given Khan instructions on how he wants the cars handled in his dealership. In other words, Khan is doing his job and would like to keep his job. Just like many of us, he has to answer to the higher ups. The good news is no one is allowed to test drive your car and they are not just letting everyone sit in it. So while this forum is an excellent place to vent frustrations, try to take it easy on Khan. He's just trying to make you happy with the situation he's been put in. Again, car is gorgeous! I hope you get it soon. I've got to wait another week or so.

What are these strict restrictions from Mazda Corporate that you are referring to? If the car was released from port, wholesaled to the dealer, and sitting in the showroom, then it can be sold to JaxFL_RX8. As far as I know, the only RX-8's that dealers cannot sell are the "demo" models. I think they have to keep "demos" through the end of September or October. Now I don't think that Jax's is a "demo" so I would then assume he is a preorder. If this is the case, then Jax is rightfully upset. He (AND ALL OF US) have waited long enough. Maybe its "Mr. Bush" causing the delay or this Khan fellow but either way I think its a lousy way to treat a customer.

Planman, Khan was lying out of the side of his face. Mazda has given no such instructions and I called Mazda and they obviously called and that royally pissed him off. That roadguard laminate sticker BS for $600 is also BS. I had to sic Mazda on them about that too back in April or May. If you don't want that you better get proactive or it'll be on there. The thing has UV coating and in 10 years I bet there will be some two-toned hoods driving around. Not me!

I'm certain Khan was trying to anger me so badly that I'd walk from the deal. This would be so that he could roll it back to the garage and put that $600 mark up on it.

I got my car last night (Wed), and I'm sooooooo happy now. All my troubles and stress have melted away. The car makes you smile. I must have gone back into the garage 5 times just to look at it. You'll understand soon enough. I just wish the break in was over so I can rev it. It's not easy shifting at 3500-4000 every time, it really is.

Just in case you guys didn't see, the second east coast boat hit Jaxport yesterday (or the day before)!

Elara,

Since it arrived port so soon, did you confirm whether your order got updated with the appearance package?

My dealer said he was able to enter it into the computer, so hopefully the answer is yes. I just hope it doesn't hold it up too long now.
