I didnt get a letter, I went in and told them I had a CEL and they told me while I was there they would do the recall..which turned out to be a spark plug change and a reflash...I did get the warranty extending to 60k...

Yo dude, how about them Tigers, huh?

Anyway, you're pretty close to my stompin grounds. Did you get a recall letter, or just the extended waranty letter?

just the extended warranty letter but i heard about the recall here and then the dealer in Rock Hill where i got the car from called me to schedule an appointment. i just wanted to make sure i get everything checked while the warranty is still good.

and how about them Tigers? although now i am worried about Wake Forest because we haven't had the best success against them lately.

I don't understand why the West coast gets the recall letters but we only get the extended warranty letters. We still need to get the latest flash to prevent problems from happening with low RPM driving anyway so wtf? This doesn't make too much sense. Even if they are purposely doing one region at a time so that they aren't swamped across the nation with engine replacements, the way I see it is...the longer they wait to issue the recall over here, the more owners on the east that are going to end up needing new engines.

I don't get it either. Anybody with an engine that is in bad shape needs to have the work done now, not when geographically Mazda thinks it is time to do the work. While we wait, we are running our engines with a flash that does not deliver a sufficient amount of oil thru the injectors in certain scenarios. It's not making sense to me. If they can't theoretically replace all of the engines at one time, then, at least they can get the whole picture out in-front of them exactly how many engines there will be, and they could prioritize who needs an engine right away and who can wait (by the running condition). How could that be worse then the condition the situation is in today?

My RX-8 is an extra car for me. Since I have finally figured out what's going on to some degree, I have put mine in time-out. It is sitting in my garage until I can have this recall done. Matbe a short trip every two weeks or so is all it gets until then. That in and of itself sucks.

For those who have no choice but to use their car to get around, I would be more than just a little upset by now. To knowingly allow everybody to continue to run their cars unchecked with an accelerated wear condition is beyond me. If we modded our cars somehow that would cause this situation, they would void our warranty, I am sure.

If your worried, premix 2 cycle oil like has been mentioned before in with your next fill up. About 8 oz per fill up should be fine and hold you until you get the recall appointment scheduled.

Ah so!

Marvel Mineral Oil even better? (Commonly refered to as MMO in the rotary world IIRC.)

OK, we haven't received anything yet. However, we took the 8 in for some other issues, just minor ones. We took it to Sutherlin Mazda at the Mall of Georgia. They asked if we had received anything yet and that our 8 was part of the recall and extended warrenty.

So they to took our car and gave us a new 2007 CX-7, just over 250 miles on it, to drive until the work was done. They flashed to PCM, completed all other parts of the recall and checked out our other problems.

We picked the 8 up Friday morning and itruns great. The flash seems to have fixed the sluggishness(?) we were having with it.

I would highly recommend Sutherlin Mazda to anyone else.

I was at Sutherlin last week for all sorts of normal maintenance stuff and they did all the recall checks (evrything passed with flying colors) . What a great group of folks from Susan, John, and the entire group. I drive from Chattanooga a couple times a year just to go see these folks, I HIGHLY recommend them.

lol....they gave me a ford focus too, and when i picked up my wife she almost killed me , she was ashame to be on that car so we went back to the dealer and told them my wife had a important wedding that weekend and we couldnt drive the ford focus so they changed the loaner and gave us a 2006 jetta with like 1000 miles on it with leather, so if u still driving the focus u should go and change it jeje

Man, that was one sweet game on Saturday, huh? I usually root for Georgia Tech, but not when they're playing Clemson hehe. Both teems played very well and like true sportsmen! It's a shame that one team had to lose.

So, what are they telling you? You have a 5th gear problem too, right?

Well, i have been without my car for a month now, and i am getting frustrated that it has been taking so long. They noticed the problem with my car in 5th gear saying that it completely slipped out during their test drive so they had to rebuild it per Mazda's orders and then they had more problems about other gears not engaging, so they broke it down again and i believe they are putting it back in Wednesday then sending it to get detailed (which i come to learn from the dealership that it is just a simple wash and vacuum). So i just want my car back. i am tired of driving a crappy Ford sedan.

And what a game it was. being in that stadium, it was so loud in there. I really like the all purple for some reason. and i am just shocked at how, by some miracle, Calvin Johnson was help to ZERO receptions all game. next up.....VT. Go Tigers

Still haven't gotten anything in the mail. I'm starting to get the impression that South Florida owners won't be hearing about the recalls.

Just FYI, Spoke to Mazda customer service today.. and it seems the SE region has NOT had thier letters sent out...

According to him they were going out next week. This might explain why many of us haven't seen anything and the dealers claim to know nothing about it.

I called them since I thought they might have sent the notice only to the lease company (they are legally obligated to send them a copy ) and forgot me.. but I was told that was not the case.

Guess I'll sit around and wait a bit longer. Carry on.
