Gwinnet Co. Fairgrounds Autox-July 10
Hey guys...
Now that there are a few of us going to these things, we could begin working together in the "pits".
What I am suggesting is we get a 12x12 tent and setup at each event where we do tire pressure adjustments, wheel changes, chalk on the tires, and stash some community food and drink. This way, we don't all have to bring everything (air compressor, tire guages, etc... and have a place to hang out and improve each others times.

this leads to the thread where we are throwing this around. glad to see you are going to make it. should be fun.
splan, i agree, we need to do what you mentioned, it will make things easy. less of a mess.
Cool on the pit thing...
It might mean someone puts a tent up early and someone else takes it home. Depends on who is morning and who is afternoon. We could probably figure that out by looking at who runs in what groups and who lives or works close to each other.
I think we will NEED:
- Tent (something big but not huge, needs to be stable enough on pavement and dirt)
- Air (tank with or without compressor)
- A high quality tire pressure guage
- A cooler
- Some small amount of tools (just in case)
- Jack so we can change wheels if desired
- A waterproof tub with motor oil, windex, rain-x, towels, etc...
- Some chalk
- ???
I think we will WANT:
- Some chairs
- A clipboard for drawing maps and writing down pressures, lap times, etc...
- Ability to scan and post the above paper
- ???

I also was not sure how much silver wanted me overloading him. He will have to keep me in check, I am like a kid in a candy store right now with the new camera, and now with the outlet to put it on the web, even worse.
Nabil, did any of your in car video turn out, or was the camera loose for all of it?

The mount is good, it stays pretty secure, and not too much vibration. Next time I am going to work on getting it to see more of the outside, and less of my right shoulder.

I am really looking forward to the next event, I have reserved my number in STU, 88 of course, I may not be real competitive against some of the cars in that class, but it will be a lot of fun. I have even gone out and gotten a number set, some magnetics and everything, at least I will look like I know what I am doing.

trhoads, I would build my car to run on the road race track at events such as NASA and Panoz Track Days and such and just deal with what ever I had to at the Autocross. Personally I think the Autocross is where you learn to really handel your car and the road race courses where you put it to use. IMHO... and that is an unexperianced one as you know... just from observation. What do you think Splan?

I am bad enough already, sways are on the way. And that is just the beginning.

I might consider it for next season, maybe a good end of the year bonus could result in a used set of wheels and tires for track use. I know that in STU you have to run street tires. I did not realize that you can not run STU with an aftermarket flywheel. I had thought about that at some point, but maybe not. That would put me in SM, and I don't think the 8 will compete there. But maybe I am not in this to compete, but merely to have fun! :D
