I live in Charlotte, about 30 minutes from the airport. It's a nice airport so i would recommend it, but i have never been to CAE. Also it's about an hour and a half from CMP. When are you comming down here?

SCSI - where are you staying?
CMP is 20 minutes from anything halfway decent. When we drive from Atlanta, we go thru Columbia and stay in the Camden/Lugoff area. There are hotels and food and stuff there.
Kershaw is barren is except for a decent pizza joint and a scary hotel.

Camden is closer to the Columbia side - 30,40 minutes from the airport.

Most people attending races or track events tend to stay in Camden. I reccommend the Colony Inn, I've stayed there a few times for driving events the team was attending. Prices are fair, beds are comfy, and there are a lot of places for food very close by.

Holler at us Ga folks when the Nov event is around.

Camden is about a 15-20 min ride from the track. But seriously, the Executive Inn near the track (5min away) is hideous. Kershaw has no fast food, no chain food (Chili's, Hooters, etc), not much of anything.

I can't speak for the Charlotte way in, but if coming from Columbia - you get on I-20 and go about 25 min to the exits for Lugoff or Camden. The hotels are a few min off the interstate. From there, you have to head north 20 min to the track and there is nothing along the way. 0. Farms, swamps, a Jehovah's witness church....

After a track day, it is nice to head a few miles north into the center of Kershaw and try Gus' House O Pizza. I really wasn't expecting much when we went - it is small but damn the food was good and cheap.
But if you are staying a few days - Camden/Lugoff have a bunch of options.

What weekend in Nov? Doing another Skip school there? Kinda funny because last time you were here to do RA, we couldn't meet up cause I had driven up to CMP I think.
My guess is on your Nov trip, It will be the same weekend some of us ATL folks will be in Savannah for Roebling Road.

*edit* - just saw I8U's post. We stay at the Colony Inn also. It is an old school small hotel run by an older couple. Not fancy by any stretch - but a good clean economical place. No business centers or gym etc - real keys, a nice weekend breakfast, very safe, they still hand write reservations. Very nice folks and track-ho friendly.

There is also a Holiday Inn Express (I think) nearby. Do an Expedia search on Camden and Lugoff.

Remind us about the MX-5 Race when it gets closer. I am free part of that weekend and might come up that way and hang out. My little track toy is an MX-5 so I would love to see some of that.
