Increase in spottings, Augusta GA
Looking for folks in the Fort Gordon/Augusta area. I used to be the sole RX8 here before I took a 15 month vacation. I come back and I see them out in force!!! If you are an 8 owner in the area please raise your hand. Maybe we can schedule a meet if there are enough interested.

I have never seen a blue one around here!!! I see there is a new white, red, and grey (not my TiGray... i think galaxy. Too far away to tell) running around here. Hmmm.

When I visit Augusta I see a red one with a custom plate all the time. Anyone on here? I live in the Milledgeville/Macon area. I'm off on Sun-Wed so meets in there would be great for me, but majority rules.

There are 2 red ones in my neighborhood, but neither one has a vanity plate. I'll keep my eye out for it.

I see a red one, GT, running around from time to time. He is a newbie though as I have not seen the driver before.
There is also a TitGrey GT running around and most recently a Galaxy Grey. Anyone want to fess up to ownership?
Kurt, 9G, would be great to get something together sometime. Anyone else from the Augusta/North Augusta(SC) area around that is willing?

In ATL - but do have a suggestion for Augusta owners. I had my flywheel installed by Steve at AAMCO across from Augusta National...he did a great job, was quick, and well priced. If you need tranny/clutch/flywheel work and can't make it to Mazcare here in ATL, I'd give him a visit. He knows his rotaries.

I had no clue there was an experienced rotary dude around here. I may have to stop in here soon and do some quizzing. Good thing Masters is over. That side of town is a zoo.

Picking my 05 Shinka up this weekend
I'm flying out friday morning to Orlando to pick up and drive home my 2005 Shinka. I'll be stopping in Bluffton SC on the way home to visit my parents, but would like to get together with some of the local owners.
I'm obviously a noob with the car and rotaries in general, but this forum has already become my browser homepage.

There is only one dealership in the area ... Gerald Jones. I do most of my own work, unless it's something specialized (like removing an eccentric shaft pulley bolt). When my car was still in warranty and had the free maintenance, I had very good service from Gerald Jones.

Hello all,
Just thought I'd introduce myself. I'm a lurking member here on the forums simply because I do not own an RX8. I'm just trying to learn about them as much as possible before buying. But, I do live in Augusta and would be interested to meet up with other owners if I do indeed take the plunge.
Right now I'm in Afghanistan but should be returning home in the near future. I'm thinking of making a purchase when I get back (anyone want to buy a Jeep Wrangler so I can get an RX8?). Kind of a job well done reward to myself.
By the way, did any of you guys buy new or used from Gerald Jones Mazda? Just wondering if I should even stop by the dealership to have a look, or if I should just browse Craigslist.com and Autotrader.com.
Thanks for any and all replies.
Regards,
Joel

yeah, Charlie was booked up solid the week I wanted it done. I was inpatient so I drove out to see Steve. He had actually bought my wife's old SUV for his daughter and we got to talkin. He showed me some pics of when he used to wrench on Jim Downing's IMSA team and some old RX-4's racing on the beach. He know's his stuff and is a nice guy to boot. It's a transmission shop, not a full service place.
Have a safe return JSimmons -

There used to be one on Washington Rd as well (Mercedes and Mazda dealership) but they went straight Mercedes a few years ago.
I agree with the idea of a meet-up for the Augusta owners. Let's start brainstorming!
Maybe a road trip to Road Atlanta ?

Gerald Jones is it. There used to be one in South Carolina just across the border (go to the end of 520) but I believe that they have changed affiliation.

A group of us already plan to go to Mazfest at The Mitty. Mazdas everywhere ... plus many great racecars. Also, people take their collector cars out of their garages to show off. If the weather is good, this would be a great event. https://www.rx8club.com/se-rx-8-forum-30/we-doing-mazfest-mitty-year-142600/

Sup all? I'm in the ATL, but I have family in Augusta and visit often. A meet would be cool. I didn't really see any 8's in the AUG that last time I was there. I think I saw one on Ft Gordon. Gerald Jones did my 37,500 maintenance. No complaints. I had my first Mazcare experience about a week and a half ago, nothing but praise for those guys.

I bought mine new at Rader Mazda. Since then, Andy Jones closed his dealership in North Augusta, bought out Rader and moved to Gordon Hwy.

Sup guys, I also have a TiGrey one, 5 minutes from fort gordon. Mine looks bone stock, no wing. I have seen another grey around gordon highway, and saw a red one heading into fort gordon.
If any of you guys need any parts color matched or repair a fender bender, I own a bodyshop and can help ya out...I have alot of the factory colors already.
There will be a car show downtown augusta in September, always a fun show and its free. You guys should bring em out, I will probably bring one of my classics but it would be cool to see some 8s.

Just thought i would chime in... live off Washington road. Have a 04 BB GT. And I have to agree Gerald Jones service has been great. The sales department on the other hand...well wont go there. Lets just say, the sales manager thinks used rx8s are worthless.

Hello everyone. Just thought I'd post up that I plan to be in Augusta this weekend. So if you see a WB w/ vanity plate, it's me. Feel free to honk or something.
