Pete,

I think Epi was arranging the dining accomdations. The last post where he mentioned food was that Race Rock had suggested we all just go eat whenever....in groups and such.

The link below leads to their website menu. It looks reasonable and tasty! I was thinking of having "rotary chicken".

bwaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa :D

Race Rock Menu

p.s. For dinner I'm having beer...

sorry, pete. we are eating lunch at race rock on our own. the market manager that im coordinating with said the buffet is alot of work for us and them to organize so it's not really worth it. the prices for individual meals arent bad considering it's on i-drive.

i went to a dtmpower meet there a few years ago, and we just went in whenever we were hungry to eat. he said we can go all at once or in small groups or whatever.

someone mentioned the rx7 guys are still lobbying blanchard to meet there, but after getting the details on race rock, it's really not worth it even if we managed to get it for free. it's jointly owned by the county and the YMCA, so they're able to extort us.

as for dinner, I don't know. there's a hooters out this way that will give us a 20% group discount, but ill need to know soon so i can have them reserve the outside deck. since we've scrapped bowling reservations, we could eat at hooters and then head to the alley and just make the best of it. im sure we'll all have a good time either way.

they can, but i think that's more for groups that go there just to eat. i think they have like a little conference room gimmick where they do that stuff. if we did a buffet, then we'd have to give them a count, select a menu, all go eat at once, etc etc etc.

if you really wanna shoot for a buffet, i can give you the guy's contact info and you can work it out with him.

I just spoke with my service rep here at Russel Mazda, they will be happy to provide something for a door prize also.. the Manager will be calling me later. I wonder what they have that's cool. Should I mention what the other dealer has provided or jsut keep it hush hush?

Should I mention what the other dealer
Sure. Tell them the web address. Let them see what "customer support" is all about!

Basically, all we are doing is honoring our vehicles. That's GOTTA make any dealership happy.

"Got Wankel?" Sounds cool.

Dinner/activity are both uncertain at this point, and I'm worrying if it'll work out fine. There's really no way to get an accurate count of how many ppl are completely down for what...b/c moods can change throughout the day, or there's about 100 other factors that could mess up plans etc. Still, I'm just hoping this won't turn into a disaster. I guess the worst case scenario is that we show up some place with more ppl than we expected, and they can't accomodate us all (because we didn't reserve). Then they'll just have to split us up and serve us in groups...which kinda stinks but isn't the end of the world either...

I encourage everybody that's committed to this meet, and WANTS to hang out in the latter stages of it to please respond to any activity that's in the planning phases. So, if epit updates with dinner suggestions or whatever possibilities, PLEASE chime in and post your thoughts. It will go a long way in clearing up a lot of uncertainties. I've noticed only a handful of ppl have actually responded in, "hey I'm OK with that" while the remaining 30+ ppl are unaccounted for. It's very difficult to mass plan in this manner.

I decided to scrap bowling b/c I couldn't determine whether enough ppl really wanted to go. Just remember though, on the day of the meet. It'll come down to, "OK what are we doing next?" And there could be 30+ cars of ppl that don't know what to do. Then we'd just show up at a random spot, hoping that they could accomodate everybody...might get sloppy.

Does anybody have suggestions for a specific activity? If so, maybe we can quickly get together a poll. Or, would they rather play it by ear, and sort of wing it when we get to I Drive?

WOW that was a lot of reading for not checking in one day.

GREAT job on Race Rock!

As for bowling
I think just letting everyone decide to go bowling or not after dinner is a good idea that way if it doesn't work out then no one is out. BUT I do think we should keep bowling as the activity of choice this way the plan is still in place and they will have enough open lanes if 20 people end up going. The place is HUGE! And they also have ppol tables, games and a BAR!! So this would be a GREAT idea for everyone to drive over to and have an awesome caravan then have a lot of fun doing all the different activities there!!!!!!

Hope this helps clear up some plans for after dinner.

I talked to my dealership just a few minutes ago and will know on friday what door "prizes" they will be donating.

Great job on the shirts, put me down for 2 large and 1 medium, girlfriends wanted the small but looks like the only one goes to Driven.

I think we should def plan dinner somewhere. I "think" mostly everyone is down for dinner. Lunch time buffet would be nice but if we just all go in at our leisure in small groups it'd probably be easier. Up to everyone I guess. Im just gonna go with the flow.

ummmm, wow! lots of reading since last night!

race rock, lunch there whenever we get hungry, leaving after-dinner plans open, but figuring bowling (as both myself and bluegrom mentioned, boardwalk bowl is HUGE), shirts...i missed all the choices, but i'll probably buy 1 each of whatever is there....large most likely.

good work to everyone organizing this!! see you all in 10 days!

So for sure, the parking lot at Race Rock will be reserved for us right? So we won't be mixing with the "tourists", we'll have our own section right?

Thats the 7 ppl's concern...

Well guys, you can probably count me out for the orlando meet. Took my car to the track today. It completely sheared off 1st gear on the first run. Two transmissions in 6 months is enough.
