Just wanted to give this thread a bump. I haven't gotten any further on mine yet due to lack of funds, but hopefully soon. I did get my rotor and housing in so getting ready to prep it. Just needing new Apex seals. I did get my SOHN adapter and the bottle kit, but I haven't had a whole lot of time to get it installed.

Welcome back! I had a hiccup and had to pull the motor back out, so not yet. I did get the bottle kit in and it looks sweet. You can come out and check it out if you want just to get an idea. I would be more than happy to give you hand getting it installed if you wanna bring it by. I'd like to see it anyway. I get off work at 4 over the weekend and have Tues and Weds off. Let me know and i'll send you my address.

I saw a gray 8 drive by the Dive School this morning that I hadn't seen before.

well I got the motor back in the car. still haven't gotten it started but I am looking into a few things today. Compression seems to be there so I am hoping it is just the fuel hasn't primed yet. did a little bit of troubleshooting last night and I didn't smell any gas on the plugs. keeping my fingers crossed!

I went to EVOC class today and boom found another 8 driver in PC. His is the red one.

 

I currently reside in Panama City at Tyndall AFB. I am a new 05 RX8 owner and would be interested in attending some sort of rotary meet up.

 

Well, looks like I'll be pulling it back out again. Not sure what went wrong but I am thinking it might be the oil control ring springs. I wont know till I get it back out.

I had a lazy moment the past few days and lacked the motivation to get it back out of the car. It is hard to keep going when you get to the 3rd attempt if you know what I mean. I am looking at completely new seals at this point instead of reusing the old ones.

 

I understand your reluctance to take the motor out again. I don't know if I would but if you do I hope it works out for you!

So I was thinking of going to NOPI nationals in ATL with some friends. Figured I'd see if anyone wants to be apart of this weekend in sept. I will get dates if anyone is interested.

Dude, I got ripped off. I took a chance on a ebay motor for parts. When I got it home and taken apart, the rotors and irons were covered in rust from sitting with coolant in the bottom part of the chamber. I brought it back up to the seller and they told me to return it in the original condition that I got it for a full refund but I had to pay return shipping. Not only was the return shipping more than I paid for the whole thing, but how, am I suppose to put it back to original condition with it looking like that? I disputed it with ebay and they found that since it wasn't possible to get it back to original condition, they would not refund the money and removed my negative feedback. I am About done with ebay. I am going to clean up what I got and see if anything is usable. The irons are junk, but I was able to do a little welding and get one back to good condition. Hopefully one of the rotors isn't pitted to bad to use, and I can continue with the build. Seems like I just can't catch a break lately.

Finally got it running but now it is in limp mode. Trying to adjust the OMP, but no luck yet. Anyone want to throw a few ideas my way or come out and turn some wrenches with a beer, let me know. I am usually here Mon and Tues after 11am. All other days, I work until 4 pm. Let me know!

Hey all, sorry for not being active here. I did finally get my 8 moving. still got a little tweaking to do, but hey, at least she is running. I got an idle issue I am dealing with, but she runs great other than that. Looking forward to going to some meets soon!
