Engine help (tuning valve)

I have a check engine light on and diagnostics showed it is a P2070 error: Intake man tuning valve is stuck open.

Dealership told me the part NEEDS to be replaced and the cost is $600.

Can anyone confirm this sound like a legit solution at an "appropriate" cost. I know there is no such thing at a dealership but...

Thanks for any help

No they didnt give me a part number. I have been reading through the threads on the site and it looks like this is a common problem for an automatic and in the cold weather. Have you heard any suggestions other than replacing with new parts?

honestly no i havent (doesnt really get cold in miami lol) :P
if you can go back and get a part number (or name), maybe i could point you to someone on the forum who has it. a friend of mine got a part and before they even went to open the box mazda found the issue with her 8 to be the starter. if the part you need matches the part she has, she will definately sell it to you.

There is a DYI on how to solve this problem. P2070 is related to the SSV valve. Most of the times the valve is stuck due to carbon build up and all you have to do is to clean it. See if there is anybody from SC club that can help you out.

hey i'm the friend with the part. if you need the SSV I have it unopened directly from mazda. if you're able to take care of it without replacing then great. if not i have the peice. it cost me about $350 and you can probably replace it yourself with a DIY on the forum. i found one once but don't remember the link to it. there's a few more peices you'll need but they cost about another $15. I never got them. so let me know if you need anything. And sorry it took me so long to get in touch with you. PM me if anything.
