I'll be getting new tires before the December event. Just hit 15K miles and with the 6 track events I've done, the tires are acceptable for normal street driving, but will not be worth a flip at Road Atlanta again. Got some Kuhmo 712's on the way.

The following is from an email I got from the guy that was driving the red FD on 10/9 that tagged the wall. Poor guy has had a string of bad luck.......

"Yup, that was me! I hit the wall at about 1-2mph. It was nothing. Just cosmetic damage. I finished out the day on the track just fine (110-120 miles or so on the track). I was coming out of the esses onto turn 5, hit the berm that they suggest just going over (except maybe when it's wet, like it was), and I hit a little too much gas and went into a spin and hit the outside wall. The spin started as such a low speed thing, that the worst it could've been was not even 5% of what that Miata went through. I scared the crap out of my Dad, who was my passenger for the 2nd and 3rd session. That was the third spin during that session. That should have been a clue.

As far as it "hurting"... not really. I'm just in this funk right now where everyone and everything is hitting my car. I'm kinda numb to it all now. I've had 4 body damage incidents since last December. It started on Christmas Eve with a deer (insurance covered it, but I had my $500 deductible). Lots of damage, but the car still drove straight, and the broken windshield didn't let wind or rain in. Then, I was hit and run right before the 4th of July when my car was parked (I paid to have it fixed out of pocket). Then someone backed into the passenger side door at work a month or so later, again, while the car was parked, but the guy at least seeked me out and paid for it through his insurance. Then turn 5 at Road Atlanta. And that was the only one of the four incidents that was my fault. We are now taking bets on when my next damage will occur (regardless of fault). I'm in for mid-Dec. .

Good to hear the driver of that Miata is going to be ok and will get right back on the horse.

Thanks for contacting legokcen. I'm not a member of the RX-8 Forum, as I don't even bother lurking there. I do on the RX-7 Forum, as MPython. I know some RX-8 folks that post there. Our Florida car club allows any rotary, not just 7's. So we have a mix of the 8's, all generations of 7's, and RX-2's, RX-3's, RX-4's, RX-100's, etc."

Alright! I got the video on the computer. I'm looking at different quality settings and I've been able to get it down to 21MB for 30 minutes of the last session. I can FTP it to Phlash's server if you want. The 1 hour portion which is the second and third session is about 44 MB's at a medium quality setting. 15 frames/second. I'll send that too. I can get it all on high quality onto a CD in windows media player format.

Phlash, let me know how much space there is on the ftp and I'll send it to you if you want. Amazing how easy it all was once I got the firewire card installed.

Can't wait to tape the next one. I got an autocross this weekend too and I'll post some videos of that too.

You got the 4th track session. It's 30 minutes. 21 MB. I've also got a 148 MB version of the same thing, but higher resolution and frame rate. Let me know if you want that one too. I'll send the 2nd and 3rd sessions (1 hour long) after playing with more compression settings.

Cool!!! Smooth driving Levent! I enjoyed watching that run. That looked like the 4th session. Looking forward to the other videos too.

I can't wait until our time on Dec 11th. I saw Charlie on Wednesday. He had his registration to Panoz complete. Still planning a get together the night before at his shop. Since the registration is per person not per car, he said he may take his Corvette powered RX7 to the track as well as his RX8.

Looks like this thread will blow away the number of posts and views of our last track day thread. Woohoo.

Thats how we get it done in the south

Thanks! Yeah, it's the 4th session. I didn't have the camera running the 1st time, so I got sessions 2, 3, and 4.

I was able to seperate session 2 and 3 even though they were on the same disk. I'll post those this evening.

Me Too!

I finally faxed my form today. Hopefully they still have room. If so, I'll see everyone there. I didn't get to go last time, so I'm really looking forward to it. I'll be praying for good weather. :D

Hope you can make it. It'll be great if we're the largest contingent there. Dinner afterwards like last time?

guys,
I haven't sent my paperwork in yet but I plan on being there. And hmmmm I have a couple of little interesting things to show all. Nothing spectacular after all I'm just an oldman with lots of money! Oh yea did I mention at times I have been known to be quite delusional. Thank God for electric shock therapy. It really helps.
I will be there! Oh I have said that already haven't I. I guess B class. Do we get the discount this time? Do I understand correctly that the 1st session still requires a lead driver?
This will be even better than the last time. Do I count 5 or 6 counting me?

Just got a new set of Kuhmo's! I'm ready. Just saw that Panoz billed my credit card this week. That means I'm officially in. I can't wait!

I checked with Panoz and group B is not full for the 11th. I'll be faxing my enrollment form today!
Does that make me the 8th 8?
Can't wait to try 2nd gear in the 7th turn!!
