Track Day at Road Atlanta December 11/12

Alright all you SE RX8 owners. You may have missed the fun we had at Road Atlanta on Oct 9th but don't let the next event pass you!

Who is in for this upcoming track day? Information is available at the Panoz website at http://www.panozracingschool.com/TrackDays.asp

Here is the skinny: There are 3 groups. Group C is for people who havn't driven at Road Atlanta. Group A and B is for those with previous RA track day experience. We had 8 RX8s in group C on Oct 9th and we all had an awesome time. Look at the "Mazda Track Day at Road Atlanta" thread to read some of the participant's accounts and see some pictures. Speeds were pretty much unlimited and we got a chance to see what our cars can really do. We actually had 2 track sessions in the rain and still hauled ass. We also looked great running together on the track :)

Price is: $225 for Saturday, $325 for Sunday, or $500 for both days. With 6 or more people we get a 10% discount.

Who is in?

epitrochoid 10-16-2004 09:53 AM

There is no group C on Sunday so the A and B groups get more track time.

epitrochoid 10-16-2004 11:47 AM

im definately in then...i'd be group C anyway

legokcen 10-16-2004 02:42 PM

OK, how many going to do group B this time around?

Phlash 10-16-2004 03:42 PM

Okay recently graduated C groupies.......LETS GO!!!!! No more lead follow!! Count me in Saturday!!

Hey Lego and Splan.....what's the latest on the video from the last round?

epitrochoid 10-16-2004 05:58 PM

I got dibs on video production ;)

olddragger 10-17-2004 10:00 AM

Yes I'm in! Do you thinks if we get enough 8's then we can have our own B session ? That would be cool, look cool and 9k sound cool! Plus I hate the passing problems that can come up! ANYONE can plass me on turn 12! Driving alone vs following will be a BIG differance guys. ANyone interested in bringing a transponder in order to get some accuate track times?
Nabil, does Mazcare stock the rb bars? How about the flywheel?
olddragger

Phlash 10-17-2004 01:56 PM

I want that RB intake........coming soon.....:0)

It'd be cool if Charlie and Scott would go.

olddragger 10-17-2004 08:59 PM

nabil
can you tell the diferrrance with the rb suspension. My stock set up seemed to be capable of more than I could give it,....except for turn 12 in which i would really enjoy a little more damping in the dip. I'll spent the money If it makes a differance. What is your most prestigious expert opinion oh great one?
B class will try to pass you on the front straight and I thought I saw a couple really cut it close. may have been a bifocal artifact.

what did you guys do for lodging last time?

I'm going to probably have to get a hotel room, and I want to call some places and make sure they'll take me in (only 20 :( )

Lego stayed right down the street from the racetrack. He is probably the one to ask.....I think olddragger stayed close as well.

Phlash 10-18-2004 01:44 PM

"(After this event, we would not get the 10% off.)"

That bytes!!!!

Splan8 10-18-2004 02:35 PM

I am probably gonna sit this one out unless bonus comes early (the corvette needs $$$), will do it again in the spring time, though.

As for a place to stay, if you want to make a big ordeal out of it, Chateau Elan is well worth it. It would make a very nice 3 day weekend getaway. Golf, race, etc...

Oh, my video is a no show. The bolt came loose and I got good audio, but mostly pictures of trees and such. Lego says he is working on his (great quality) and will edit and post on the web soon.

epitrochoid 10-18-2004 04:23 PM

chateau elan = $$$$$$

i've stayed at the one at sebring...damn nice place though. probably just shack up at the local microtel or something

Phlash 10-18-2004 08:05 PM

OK. I got the video on VHS, but I have to buy a firewire card to get it onto the computer. I just ordered it. Here's what it looks like on the TV. Sorry, as soon as I get the firewire kit, I'll get it to my computer and then get it onto CD or DVD.

I took some pictures of what it looks like on the TV. A little lame yes, but at least it shows you what it's like. It looks great on a large screen TV. Almost like you're sitting in the back seat and watching.

I'll get the real stuff as soon as I can.

Take care.

legokcen 10-19-2004 04:47 AM

Well, that's what is funny. I didn't know there would be very good sound, but you can hear my yelling a couple times at the people in front of me. I'm going to have to edit those out! :) Quite embarrasing actually.

hmmmmm, I was in front of you a couple times.....surely your not throwing that my way........it had to be the Volvo and the Vet.....:)

Phlash 10-19-2004 07:56 AM

Lego,

My office has the stuff to move the format to digital. If you want to, if you can copy and send it to me, I can digitize it.....

Mr. Tarmac 10-19-2004 08:29 AM

Hey guys. Sounds like y'all had a big time a couple of weeks ago. Olddragger is a friend of mine (albeit a much older friend ;) ) and he's been babbling on about the trip since he got back. For some reason, I get the feeling he doesn't like turn 12. Is it just me? Anyway, I haven't tracked Road Atlanta, but I was up there at Petit LeMans last month and the track is awesome. Olddragger just about has me talked in to the December trip if I can work it in around Christmas and house renovation expenses. I currently drive a VW R32 (although I think the 8 is a killer car) and it needs its track cherry popped. If you guys don't mind an AWD interloper being around, I'd like to get in on the group discount. Hey, regardless, everyone's goal for the next trip should be to have Olddragger drifting turn 12 by the end of the day. That would be a sight.

Phlash 10-19-2004 09:14 AM

Ooooooo, a downhill off camber drift through 12.......that would be a trick......

Tarmac, we'd love to have you come play.......

If I send you a VHS of the event, could you convert it for me?

epitrochoid 10-19-2004 11:33 AM

tarmac you wont be alone in the AWD crew..

I'm bringing the token STi driver to the track too :P

Mr. Tarmac 10-19-2004 11:49 AM

Sti's are nice. They have just a, uh, sliiiiight hp advantage. It would be fun to see how hard that thing pulls down the back straight.
