David, I remember watching you in turn 6 more than any other place on the track. Loved watching your approach and blasting through to 7.

Re: Post #402, Don's favorite.

Man that's hilarious! That's Craig ridin' shotgun, look at his face, it looks all squished up against the seat and David you're not even looking where you're going, it's like you're smiling for the camera.

Where's Tom? I'm ready for a laugh.

The family is downstairs for a Christmas party here at the house so I'll be on here a good bit tonight! My wife saw some of this thread last night and said we're worse than women.

On a side note - I stopped over at Lego's house today and he just installed a new roll bar on the 7 and a light wieght battery! His track beast is getting ready for next year. Can't wait to see it on track once he gets it done.

Guess you dont drive momentum cars--trail deep into turn 6 at RA dones 2 things for us RX8 guys with less torque than 4 of your cylinders.
1- momentum cars must use every angle to gain ground on folks, cause on the straight we are going to get our doors blowed off. Acclerating through turn 6 is a hell of a lot of fun and i love the feeling but the fact is we dont gain ground that way. Braking late/trailing will gain us some---just like 10A--dont brake until you see God. I personnally have pulled 3 car lenghts on heavier high h/p cars in 10 A that way--they are surprised to see me back on their high hp ***. by 10B---then I die going up the hill but by turn 5 I am right back on their big and bad metal slinging recipricating ,boiling brake fluid ***. So dont tell us how to drive our little 1.3L cars. We are doing just fine.
I hope that I have maybe --just maybe --caused a monentary lapse of overactive neural pathways that maybe--just maybe caused an involuntary thought to go through that egocentric, blinded, restricted, provincial
outlook of yours ,that the possibility of differant ways of driving may be equally effective for the purpose indended. But --then again this probably will only confuse you and cause more kata type responses.
I dont know why but the only fun person i have met in the last 10 yrs with a vette is Jeff. Damn shame, Vette's are good cars.

My ,my ,my are we having a bad day? I know, beleave it or not, about different types of horse powered cars and momentum cars. I read your very graphic observation of the driver and his equipment and how inferior his automobile was comparerd to your exquisite driving abilities while it was releaving its self of fluids and dismantling itself in your presence. Then with baited breath I continued on.
The next paragraph is quit interesting. After reading it ,and mind you, it didnt take long for this, I surmised that this was about you. And you know how I know this? Because you have a deep inbeded desire to have more horsepower, but you dont know what to do with it. But I think there is still hope for you. There are people out there that can help you my friend. I will be thinking about you, and your road to recovery. P.S. I hope your friend Jeff reads what you said about him, because I am sure he will be peeing on himself and flowering you with gifts.

Man! That's pretty brutal huh? I went back and read some of his posts and they don't seem egocentric, etc. to me? David's is strongly convicted (sub:hard headed), but I wouldn't call him the rest of all that. Now REALtq, he's a different horse all together. He matches that description to a tee. David turns somewhere in the 1.36-1.38 range at BMP and RA, heck, I would listen to him if he offers input about different parts of a track, even if I didn't end up doing exactly what he does, I can tell you this much, if he's running that fast I'm certainly going to try that line or technique first before I go head strong into a bad habit. If it doesn't quite work for me or my car then I'll change this or that to better suit me, but when I went to RA in Oct. I was in guess what? A Grand Marquis, and our line WAS THE SAME, and for gold mustang guy, I was below the 2 minute mark there too. Better than all of this, I would ride with him, I strongly recommend it. I guess you COULD look at what he types as his way or the highway, but with those kinds of laptimes I'd have a hard time arguing what he recommends. If there was anything that defines momentum car, it's a Grand Marquis or a Spec Miata and I've used both at the track. I think a momentum car is the best type of vehicle to learn a track with because you can't make a mistake and then make it up on a straight, you make a mistake and your hanging out giving point bys until the next group of features and if you're not fast it's not the car's problem, it's yours. I don't know how you interpret my posts, but I sure hope I don't get under your skin evidently the way David does, then again, I don't drive a Corvette either. Now, there we go, maybe that's the part that gets you going, or maybe the part that Don has SO many pictures of a Corvette, and David's Corvette at that, AND they're posted on an RX8 forum! Hmmm, I think balldragger may just have a corvettish himself and I think he even hints at it with his last sentence??

I don't know about vette6, but you're sure making my head spin.
Where the fvck is thing number 2?
For that matter, what is the first thing?
Are the two things that trailbraking does (dones) for you 1)gain ground in turn 6 and 2) gain ground in turn 10a???
No, can't be that because you said trailbraking in 6 does (dones) 2 things for you.
Does it 1)allow you to use every angle and 2)get your doors blown off on the straight?
Does it 1)surprise the big V8 ******* in front of you and 2)boil their brake fluid?
Hmmmm...very confusing.
Organizers of these events have got to start specifically asking if potential attendees are alzheimer's patients.
