Thanks guys, I am real happy with it and that was a whole lot of fun.

Yeah, the Elise snafu was 996ttcab's instructor.

Thanks again for the kind words.

Yea, you can tell that by watching TA2 in the vids. Hey, did you have the camera on when you were driving the horsey!

No Kidding, that track is so twisty, my arms were hurtin' for days after the event...

No more "G" mods, next is roll protection and seats, I promise!

Very nice TA. You are one smooth as silk driver. I noticed you took 3rd gear further up the hill than I did out of the carousel. I tried to hang on to 3rd till I got straight but that just was not going to happen. Also our car just has no good gear for the hairpin. You just have to stick it into 3rd and deal with it. I watched the Miata's from the link Charlie gave us and they seem to be geared rather nicely for that turn.

My car in the hands of a mad French Canadian...

Here is the video of the swapped cars session...

Francois is doing great for his first on track in an RX8. He does experience the famous TTO effect but handles it with no problems.

Nabil, you were doing some great driving in your vid, that was indeed some very smooth wheelin' the 8 around the track. You said you were paying attention to be extra smooth and it shows. I think I'll call you Cool Hand Luke now.

I had a ball driving your car, it's fun to see the differences between the 2 styles. You know even though we were being conservative our pace was still pretty respectable: I saw a couple 1:56's in there and maybe even a 1:55

(EDIT)
If you look closely, our lines are almost identical there are just minute variations here and there.

Here is the Coolest trick: You can actually run the 2 videos side by side by opening 2 browsers you can then synch them and compare move for move.

Did that, amazingly the overall approach is pretty similar right down to the steering inputs. We turn the steering almost exactly the same amount and at the same time for a given corner.

I think the RX8 steering is mechanically quicker, but the Mustang's R compounds and the Titanium Johnson Rod have dramatically reduced the amount of steering needed for the corners.

I compared the November video with my July video and the difference in steering input was as much as almost 1/4 turn less in November in some corners.

Line wise I do think we would do better by entering the carousel a bit wider and progressively tighten on the way to the apex. TA's tighter line through the Hairpin seems to be the ticket.

Can't wait to go back and try some more..

OK, being home has allowed me to look through the rest of the pictures I took. This is the last of them that are a) worth looking at and b) not repeats of what you have already seen.

Enjoy.

This one is fuxxy, and out of focus, typical for the day, but look at the compression of the suspension.

Same goes for this one...

and some more...

now this is a compressed suspension...just before he went into the kitty litter

I got a little bored with the standard camera angle...

and some of the other race cars that were there that caught my eye, and the ones that I got lucky and had the pictures turn out viewable...

I got this one on the first try. No lie, I then shot 25 more trying to catch it, and nvere did.

I love 911's. especially race car 911's. and we know these guys from NASA. Well, we don't know them, we know of them.

This was my favorite of the Radicals, I like that paint scheme a lot. I just wish my other shots of it turned out.

One more Radical, I think it would be a blast to drive one of these, just not when it is as cold as it was that day.

OK, that is it, not many more turned out, a few did, but they were all too similar to what you have already seen.

The Full Gallery

I will try to do better next time.

WTF?? Those are AWESOME! The ones with the nose down and the suspension at full compression and the race cars pics convey so much speed they're worth framing.

I think by anybody's measure if you get 10-15 awesome shots of fast moving cars out of a 100-150 trys you're doing really well (Which obviously you did )

Thanks TA2, I had a total of almost 400 pictures. I really wish some of the others had turned out, they had good concept, just poor execution. It is a learning process, and now I know what to do differently for shooting some conditions.

Seems like the 8 could use a little better gearing for that track. saw a lot of gear changes right before a turn and then the resulting downshift for the turn all which results in losing time and for me the possibility of going from 3 to 2nd instead of 4th! Great vids! I know you wish you had some R's.
Looks like that track will work ya!

The one turn that gives the 8 problems with gearing is the hairpin (left hand). There is not a good gear for it. I didn't like going into 2nd because it just felt too low but you couldn't carry enough speed into it and track out with any power. Second gave you lots of power but I felt it was for no gain overall. TA said he wanted to use 2nd but it would cause the fuel starvation issue. It looked like TA2 had plenty of power.

Edit:
I bet your 17" tires would be the ticket!

may have helped--dont know til you try.
TA i was just checking Mazsports fuel upgrade and I dont think I will be doing that! For some reason I thought it was $599 total with a $200 refund for your core. Well --it's not. It is $799 with a core credit of $200 making the price $599 and I aint a going there. $600 dollor fuel pump upgrade? I dont think so.
