Excellent question....yes....you can bring your own or they may have rentals available (i'll check). The Panoz events had helmet rentals for $20.00.

I think with NASA you need to bring your own helmet.

It's official, I'm the newest member of CAMS! These guys really made me feel welcome at Tech day. Trussville Mazda graciously shared their bays and lifts for those interested in doing their own work. There were plenty of other Mazda owners on hand to help and give out pointers. There are also discounts available to club members.

They're looking to get other RX8's involved. Membership is $25 and open to all. Tech day was part of their January activities, Rotary Taz (who owns both Miatas and an RX8) should be updating on future events. I'm looking forward to the next. :D

How do I get involved?

I live in Decatur, AL and om-nc and I are in the local SCCA chapter and will do SoloII events this year.

Contact Rotary Taz (post #46) above. He and his spouse are club officers. I'll see if I can also get a number/email and get back to you.

Rob,

If you are interested. the local Miata Club, CAMS (Central Alabama Miata Society) is seeking to expand its base (a move Mazda is pushing) to include all Mazda models.

In that regard, we would welcome any new members from the Mazda community, including rotarys. I own an RX8 as will as Miatas.

Keep an eye on the RX8 SE portion of the Forum and I will regularly post information about CAMS activities.

ONOFIVEO just joined CAMS yesterday (our first non-Miata member) when we held our regular Tech Day, a day when the local Mazda dealerships allow us to use the service facility/lifts to perform maintenance and installations.

We have our regular monthly business meetings on the third Thursday of each month at a restaurant on the southside of Birmingham called Ranelli's.

We have a tentative event planned for February 12 at a custom car shop/restoration facility here in Birmingham.

Again, watch this forum for additional information about CAMS activities. Of course, you are welcome to come join us for any event and check us out, and then decide if you want to join.

I believe you and other RX8 owners would enjoy the type of activities we hold each month, and of course we are always looking for new and exciting things to do.

You can contact me directly at this email address: bettyboophd@mindspring.com.

Ernest

I think I might have met your son a few times. He go to Buckhorn? I have a friend who goes there that has a 7. He introduced me once or twice.

Thats him. He is at a Drum Corp International tryout/rehersal this weekend in Jacksonville. I am going to get my new comp tires mounted Monday, P-0 Corsa's 265-35-18. I have to do something to keep him slower than me at the local autox! The friend with the 7 is Clayton. I think he may have gone this weekend as well. He went to the last one, but I thought Drew told me he wasn't going this time.

Maybe we can have a Huntsville lunch outing in the next few weeks. Anybody up for that?

Paul

Sounds good to me. Ill try to attend if I can but with being in high school and working almost every day a week takes up alot of my time. On top of it, the extra time I do have at night usually goes to working on a project car my friend and I bought. We found an old 86 Corolla that we are setting up for a drift car.

Good to finally meet you Mr.Wilson007. Your 8 looks great, I'll be adding tint (probably 32-35%) in the next few weeks. I'm not sure if the weather has anything to do with it, but I'm waiting until it warms up.
