I will be too busy burning it up at RA, so I will not be there.
Wes, I think the intake forces us out of most classes, and drops us directly in STU. It is hard as hell to compete with those damn STI's, the are just so fast. And in the rain, there is no competition. One guy ran a 48, which was really close to the best time that was set in the dry conditions.
It was fun anyway, Don got some good pictures, tells me I really need my sways, and some coilovers. That would help, lot's 'o body roll. By next season I will have those, and a few other little toys. WE will have to see the difference.

How unfair. A slow *** AT running against an STI just because of an intake that may give me 2hp which is still far below a manual and and STI in hp. Guess I should just run TO and compare my times myself. I don't really need a little trophy sticker. The fun is when I am out on the course.
I too noticed a lot of body roll in the pics of my car so I guess a set of sways and coilovers should be in my future as well, as well as ram duct, tires, mazdaspeed strut bars, tinted windows, and a torque converter (if anyone will make an aftermarket one to get better acceleration times)

Sways, and a rear brace will do a lot, but coilovers will really make the car handle well too. Sticky tires would be great, but STU has to run street tires.

Early Results
here are the preliminary results from yesterday, official will be in a couple days
splan8:
1-DNF
2-53.656
3-52.311+1
4-51.671
I think he ran moslty in the wet conditions.
Whenson417:
1-58.288
2-57.940
3-58.274
4-60.481
he got three good dry runs, then the wet hit on lap 4, but it was good enough for #4 of 9 in the novice afternoon group.
We both got to run around in the rain, and big puddles.
spyder_doo:
1-68.428
2-60.603
3-56.849
4-DNF, (no DSC :D )
trhoads:
1-60.440
2-57.396
3-56.312
4-56.738
that was good enough for 3rd in STU, glad Nabil was not there. Up against two STI cars, one of which wins every event. So I am happy.

That's right, running with the DSC off did cost me a DNF but man that was fun. I just hope the weather holds for this weekend in Alabama.

The sways are different on my car than with the GT setup? What the hell was I think because I never thought of that. I thought the sways would be the same on all the cars and it was the shocks and springs that may be a little different. I think what I would like to do is maybe get the Racing Beat sways and lowering springs and see if Charlie has a set of GT shocks sitting around when I get around to doing it all.
As far as my times go, I changed my tire pressure from 32.5psi to 35 psi after my second run based on some advice from an exprienced M3 BMW driver that was just ahead of me. Unfortunately I did not hear my 3rd lap time and it was not recorded on the tables because the Fmod cart was passing by the tables on the track so the people couldn't hear the times. I did notice that my car wasn't handling as well at that PSI so things just got worse when the rain hit. Well lesson learned but it was a blast plowing thru the course!!!

I did see the images and I thought they were great. They showed that I had more body roll than I thought so with a little tweaking of the suspension I could definately post better times.

Well that course was so amazing. That was the best track I've ever had my 8 on so it was a different experience. How'd you end up doin Splan8? Do you know when they'll have scores up? You didnt happen to get any pics or video did you?

No pics or video, but some kind of mild heatstroke. I really had a good time, but probably only got 3rd place.
I had to use 3rd gear the WHOLE way around. I think the 13" wheels are just too small for something like that. The tires did very well though. My best time was an "88.something". Not good enough for first.
THere are pics posted on the SOLOAtlanta.com forums. There are pics of you in there...

Yeah I saw you get the 88 something but I wasnt sure if you beat that. That miata of yours sure does hug the turns really well. I'll check the website for the pics, if you find them before me please link them to me.
Thanks,
Jamie

Man I wanted to go but I missed the registration. I didn't realize that the cutoff was Friday at noon or so and I was thirty minutes late when I went to registar. Maybe next year!!
#43
They messed up the online registration. It ended 24 hours before it should have. They were letting people register on site. It was lonely being the only 8 there.
