well i think its time to plan another meet... i was thinking we could all go to an auto x or something to give some of you some experience of what these cars can do... anyone else hve any ideas?

 

Anyone know of any good roads around? Maybe something famous? in/around Mobile? The PCB? Maybe Pensecola NAS?

 

I looked around here and couldn't find anythign that would provide an exciting drive.... maybe some of the locals can help out with something

 

I'd watch... I daily drive mine, no need to abuse it on a pad.

Florida is notorious for crappy long straight roads, no twisties, and very subtle elevation change. To be honest the trip we all took a few weeks back is about as good as it gets around here.

I'd love to drive to deals gap but if I were to do that it definately wouldn't be in the car I'd be on the bike for sure. My *** would hurt after the first couple hundred miles, but once there, it'd be worth it.

 

ya know what - i'd be for a deal's gap run, too. In fact, I could ask Mary (or get one of y'all) to drive my wife's truck as a support vehicle, including a bike trailer (if we could source one) for your ***. :p

 

I agree with soul.. as far as interesting roads around here this place sux. There is always an scca meet every month a little west of mobile AL. Very small cone course, usually lots of people, and you get to see all sorts of classes from old school race porsches to beat up corollas. I was the only one in BS but there were two other rx8s. Next one is july 25th i think. Just an idea. Check out the website www.gulfcoastregionscca.org would be kinda cool to pull up with 10 or so rx8s.

 

well is there anything north of us? maybe something in the al area...

Ok folks I wanted to share some news with everyone.... Today I was contacted by a local Mazda dealer looking to sponsor some events/ meetings. I have put a couple of phone calls in to some organizations that might help us produce a very interesting meet or two.

If you guys have any ideas let them fly...

The follow up email I recieved today to my phone conversation:

Hey James,

What we would like to offer in sponsoring the local club would be a location to meet for club meetings and for meet and greets. You would have access to use our canopy for other shows that you attend in the area. All club members will get a discount on parts and accessories. I will work on a discount for service but don’t foresee that being a problem. We are here to help the club and want to offer things to you that you will find of value. If you have any ideas of what you would like us to provide for the club let me know and I’ll see what we can do.

What we want to get out of it is exposure and to get others excited about Mazda products also.

Too, we are having our Grand Opening on July 2nd between 3-8pm. We will be having a drawing for a big screen TV, snacks, cold drinks and all current Mazda owners will get a coupon for a free oil change. We would love for you guys to meet here if at all possible.

Either way let me know what you think of the sponsorship and starting up a club in our area.

Thats awesome. Where is that located? I would be down if it wasnt on the 2nd. I gotta work that day. Its cool to have places that wanna get involved in things likes meets and help in getting people interested in this car.

 

This is probably a stupid question but I forgive you guys already for the flak I may catch for asking this but, What is Deal's Gap? And where is it located?

 

I can swing by Mazda after work on the 2nd. I get off around 4pm and drive right by the place. Might be a little dusty : P

well i am currently working with a race series to have some giveaways at our next meet.... i am checking with the mazda dealer now to make sure they want to include some things in there grand opening

well depending on how everythign goes this weekend i should be there about 6 o'clock on there grand opening. I have gotten the go ahead from Grand Am that they would like to help out the event with some give aways. I will keep everyone posted

6 o clock at the grand opening sounds good. the new place is only a few minutes from my house. It's right across the street from the old one. on pensacola blvd/ hwy29 just north of airport blvd.

Yeah it was probably me - I live right on San Carlos - I see where you are -- we live right next to each other -sorry not been back on - just been busy - I will try and make it out to a meet sometime.
