4.2 Mile VIR Grand East Track Event MazdaDriverS.com

High-Speed Drivers’ Education – June 16-17, 2007

With less than 24 spots remaining, the Grand East at Virginia International Raceway (VIR) provides a chance to drive one of the longest road courses in North America.

The hard to come by Grand East at VIR is a technically challenging racetrack, featuring 4.2 miles in length, an incredible 34+ turns with multiple elevation changes in excess of over 500’ in but just one lap.

The Grand East course is literally a roller coaster track with elements of two courses combined, a tight configuration of the Patriot Course and the wide open Full course combined into one. High speed uphill climbing esses, blind drops, cascading rollercoaster spiral downhills, over 34 turns, and many undulations that take years to master.

VIR has consistently been voted to one of the top six road courses in America. A world class race facility to drive.

Thanks David for organizing a fantastic event.

I had an absolute ball and this track / facility is outstanding. It was definitely worth the 6 hours drive.

This track is indeed one wicked roller-coaster, feeling the car getting almost air borne at triple digits on top of th the first crest of the climbing esses is an experience I will not soon forget..

The event ran like clock work and my students seemed very pleased with the experience as well.

To you RX-8 guys both my students were driving RX-8's and the cars did really well on the track. This is the biggest turn-out of RX-8's I have seen at any track event as it seemed there were at least 3-4 in each run group

It was pretty satisfying to see Rachel my novice student go from being a complete newbie giving point by's to everybody to building-up a better than average pace, building her confidence, having a ball, and getting several point-bys in the bargain by the last few sessions on Sunday.

I ended-up soloing Andres, my intermediate student as he was very track aware, had good car control, and was becomming quicker and more consistent as well.

There was an impressive array of very potent machines like Lotus Exiges / New Z06 Vettes / GT3 Porsches / Race prepared BMW's / Mustangs / and even a Koni Challenge prepared RX-8

I will definitely try to make the next VIR event with MazdaDrivers --> Highly recommended

I will try to post video's later-on this week
