Well, lol and pics aside, is there a thread on the forum that discusses or details the relative merits of the various pads on offer for the Rx8?

How much more (or less) do the MazdaSpeed "special" blue pads offer over these, or the stock pads that came on the car?

I just had the car out to a local track which is known for being hard on brakes, and thought the stock pads held up rather well in my case. How much more, or what exactly is it the after market pads will offer over the stock?

thanks

Joking aside, The Price on these Hawk pads are great. I paid more for my Porterfield R4-S pads. It's almost time for new pads again and these are really looking good.

Jason, is this the price per wheel, or for the front set/rear set?

I just bought new mazdaspeed pads. What are the temp ratings and materials on the hawk pads? What is the major difference between the HPS and HP+? I could have bought two sets for what I just paid. Next time perhaps.

From Porterfield
HP Plus (N) – HP Plus can take the heat at the track and get you home safely without having to change your brake pads in and out. This compound was designed for the serious street and autocross enthusiast. Warning! Due to the dramatic friction levels produces by this product to achieve “Race Level” braking, rotor wear, noise, dust and pad life may be affected.

HPS (F) – HPS material provides advanced braking characteristics to enhance your driving experience. Gentle on rotors, virtually noise free, extremely low dust, and long pad life. HPS also offers better stopping power over O.E. pads.

Jason, sorry to Hijack your thread but for anyone else interested...

Porterfield Pads:
R-4 Full Race Compound
Designed specifically for heavy-duty motorsports. The carbon based semi-metallic R-4 materials allow the pad to absorb tremendous amounts of heat and dissipate it at very even rate. Carbon Kevlar material warms up to race temperature quickly, which is quite helpful during restarts, and when track time is limited. When used with cast iron and steel alloy rotors, the R-4 compound requires minimal bed-in period. Throughout the entire heat range, the carbon kevlar material will give extremely consistent modulation and predictably. This is truly the most rotor friendly racing brake pad material ever. Good for road courses, oval track, rally, vintage racing, autocross, club events or professional racing events.

R4-S High Performance Street and Autocross
For high performance and heavy-duty street conditions. Perfect for prolonged everyday street use while also being capable of tolerating the most severe street use without any fade. Rotor friendly of course. The R4-S friction level will give you an impressive increase in stopping ability with very minimum pedal effort. R4-S compound has the absolute lowest noise and dust levels, far below OEM equipment or any other high performance brake material. Good for autocrossing, some drivers schools, solo events, and rally’s. The R4-S compound is available for virtually any vehicle sold in the US. We also offer the R4-S in pad sizes for competition type calipers that are used under street driven conditions.
I don't know the specs or details of Project µ pads or MS pads, but dollar for dollar the Hawks Jason is selling is a GREAT deal, second would be the porterfields.

Some info on the Hawks

Hawk HPS: It has a co-efficient of friction of .4. I should not cycle over 1000 degrees. Meant to be used as a street pad.

Hawk HP+: same basic composition as HPS except it's co-efficient of friction is .45 to .5. Can cycle over 1000 degrees on limited use. Great for autocrossing and limited lap times as well as drivers school.

The HP+ will dust more than the HPS.

HP+ rear in stock? Looking to receive in less than 10 days. Also, why don't you change your forum name since the link doesn't work anymore. It might help business.

...and the website still says "pending". What's the deal - I even called and spoke to someone yesterday who said they were shipping out last night. What happened to three days?

Jason,

I want to know where my pads are. order number #4224. They were suppose to have been shipped Friday, 5/17/07 and every time my fiance calls you she gets the run around.

you've been paid, ship my pads

EDIT: I canceled the transaction because it said "Pending" then i see a note that says do not cancel on the website, to call.

WTF MAN? Why have a button to cancel if you cant cancel? T

THE Pads have not shipped yet, but you took the money from the account. Forget the pads, refund the money. I will be calling tomorrow
