Details of the build below but, first some pictures:
Drivetrain/Exhaust:
- Pettit streetported race build with MANY modifications to the oil system, port cleaning, cooling jackets etc.
- Pettit Stage II supercharger with low boost pulley setup ~ 7-8 psi (high boost available)
- Tuned by Steve Kahn @ 325 rwhp conservatively
- Upgraded bypass valve--supercharger intake tube/bypass valve port has been milled
- Custom worked lower intake manifold--runners shaped, smoothed, polished, ventilated, jet air deleted with reshaped port and VDI filled in
- Enlarged throttle body--dremeled and smoothed supercharger intake
- Tubular header with 3" true merge collector to custom midpipe and 3" exit
- Series II fuel pump
- Series II transmission with syncrosaver
- Act Pro Lite flywheel and new stage 1 clutch/throw-out/pilot bearing
- MSD 8247 ignition system
- Boost-a-spark system to control voltage to the coils- (the oem system only supplies 12.1 voltage to the coils; the msd coils like 16 volts which means the coils don’t need long dwell times)
- Grounding kit
- Oil filter relocation with stainless steel lines with AN fittings
- Polyurethane filled motor mounts.
- High output starter
- Hose candy custom lines/fittings in engine bay
Cooling/Reliability:
- Mazmart water pump and thermostat
- Ron Davis oversized radiator
- Secondary radiator with its own 180 degree thermostat
- Flex-a-lite variable fan speed controller
- Extra fan on the passenger side oil cooler with console switch
- Dual overbored oil coolers from Mazmart
- Upgraded air/water intercooler with a frozen boost coolant cooler
- Relocated coolant pump
- Moroso coolant tank with custom mount
- Silicone radiator hoses with coolant temp sensor in top radiator hose
- Small fan mounted on the pcm box for extra cooling
Suspension:
- Ohlins Full Race DFV shocks revalved and matched with Swift 13kg/8kg springs
- Racing Beat front and rear sway bars with endlinks
- Mazdaspeed front strut bar with master cylinder brace
Exterior:
- Two-tone paint Brilliant Black on Competition Orange
- 18X9 Enkei RPF1s wrapped in 225/45 Kumhos
- Front splitter tied into the chassis w/ tie-rod adjustment
- Rear diffuser tied into chassis
- APR GTC-200 Carbon Fiber Wing w/ endplates and tie-rod adjustment (chassis mounted)
- Smooth underbody paneling
- Cage mounted jack points all the way around (w/ T-bar extensions)
- Louvered front quarter panels and rear quarter panels (interior) to reduce lift
- Vented hood
- Milled and vented front grille
- Carbon fiber roof straight from Speedsource…this was a GrandAm prototype and sheds 26 lbs off of the roof
- SHIELDS lexan windshield, rear window, and quarter panels (all with anti-scratch exterior coating and anti-fog interior coating)
Interior:
- Completely gutted interior (over 400lbs shed overall)
- Custom aluminum dash
- Sparco suede steering wheel with short hub and quick detach
- Sparco Evo 2 Plus seats (driver seat on sliders)
- G-Force 6-point harnesses
- Allstar Performance driver window net
- Simplified wiring harness
- Optima Red top mounted under passenger dash
- MSD 8247 coils mounted under passenger dash
- AIM MXL dash/datalogger (never installed)
Spares:
- High boost pulley setup rated for 11 PSI
- Brand new Racing Beat Performance Oil Cooler Set (simplified 3-line set)
- Brand new fuel cell setup…JEGS 15gal aluminum fuel cell
- JEGS electric fuel pump, billet fuel pressure regulator, and comp fuel filter
- Performance stainless braided lines and all AN fittings needed
- Stock dash cluster (can be plugged right back in if preferred)
- Cobb Accessport for datalogging, DIY, or remote tuning
- Snow Performance Boost Cooler water methanol dual nozzle MAF driven system with 1 gallon tank and pump
- LoTek gauge pod with Prosport water temp, Prosport oil temp, and Prosport mechanical vacuum/boost gauge
- Racing Beat gauge pod with Prosport oil pressure and air/water intercooler temp gauges
- Extra RPF1 wheel (has a dent but holds air)
The bad:
The car has not been sorted in its current configuration. Latest updates are the aero, Ohlins ($3K), and removal of the stock dash/gauges for an AIM system (new/never installed $3K). Unfortunately, the builder was not comfortable wiring up the datalogger and I have no interest in spending any more on this project as I have other cars. Before this, the car was a very capable track weapon with consistent 1:37s at Road Atlanta on street tires. With proper suspension and aero adjustments it would be even faster now with a capable driver. Besides installing the datalogger, I suspect it will need a proper shakedown before getting back into action full steam.
I have well over $30k in this build but, as stated before, I don’t not have the time, space, or desire to carry it any further. If you are looking for a rotary-powered rocket ship that is 90% there at 50% of the cost; my loss is your gain.

The memories! This is my old car everyone. Pettit did place the larger apex seals in the engine also. The supercharger an intake manifold has a lot of work in the channels ..smoothing things out. When Steve Kahn tuned it he was on the phone with cam ( Pettit racing) and they wanted to take it higher, but I put the brakes on that. Then it was street driven daily and I wanted an conservative tune.
The series 2 trans paired with the series one diff gives you a different gear ratio. At road Atlanta I mostly used two gears, 3nd and 4th with a short upshift to 5th on that long back straight. I shifted at a little over 7.5k rpm. I didn’t push it. The engine should have great compression. Silver bought it from me and took it to the next level. I wasn’t tracking anymore because I was starting to go too fast without more safety equipment and I didn’t want to get into that.
You could not pick a better buyer! He will be 110% transparent and is totally honest. Levi is one cool guy. Someone is going to be a happy rotorhead. This is kind of a rare bird car.
By the way, the cage is reported to be almost a work of art.

What's up sonic? Been a while man!
Thank you sir!
Thanks Denny. With a little work and sorting someone will have an amazing track weapon for the price!
I washed the wheels and changed the tie rods on the splitter and wing today just to get a more adjustable AOA. They are black now so they match for you OCD people that called me out on it haha
Thank you sir!

Update!!!
Price drop at $12,000 FIRM
Well over 30k invested not including labor. Runs perfectly fine with 19" of vacuum.
Dash needs to be installed or the original reconnected. (Cobb, AIM system, and original dash included)
Race it or part-it and profit. Doesn't matter to me. Plenty of high dollar parts:
- Pettit upgraded Supercharger
- Fully race spec engine build by Pettit
- APR GTC-200
- GrandAm CF roof
- New Ohlins Full Race coilovers w/ Swift springs
- New $3k AiM MXL system datalogger programed for the RX-8 (controller, pyrometers, and all connectors)
Please do not PM me or ask questions here. My inbox stays full and this site is blocked from my work computer.
Call or text directly (478) 697-2472. Have plenty of videos or if you need something specific. Plenty of interest last time but, only posting the lower price here. I do not have time to deal with the idiots on Facebook again.

Alright guys didn't think it would come to this but the wife wants her parking spot back.
-----------------------$10,000 FIRM-----------------------
This thing runs like a top. Drive it, flip it, part it...doesn't matter to me.
The high dollar items (supercharger, engine build, roof, seats, wing, brand new Ohlins, and AiM MXL) alone are worth much more than that.
Come and get it!
