If you live within a 2 hour 30 minute flight from Chicago (as far out as Denver, New York, Miami), I'd consider paying for your one-way air ticket to Chicago O'Hare Airport (I'd pick you up) so you can buy and pick up the car and drive it home, assuming you'd be committed to buying of course.
