FS: 2004 Mazda RX-8 6MT GT, Red/Red/Blk, 37k mi., EXTRAS

FS: 2004 Mazda RX-8 6MT GT, Red/Red/Blk, 38k mi., EXT. WARRANTY (Houston)

History.

The car was pre-ordered from Mazda of Clear Lake, TX when the RX-8 was announced and purchased in 07/2003 when the RX-8 arrived in the US. At that time a $3,000 extended warranty until 07/2009 was also purchased because of the reputation of the previous 13B rotary engine. I have the original purchase agreement showing a total of around $35k as well as the original window sticker. Because the car was pre-ordered, I have all the gifts and goodies Mazda sent as well. These include: 1:43 Scale replica by AutoART, sealed Road&Track edition technical magazine & road impressions, hardcover coffee table book, mug/thermos set with matching red paint, the original brochures and sales literature, product update DVD, and even the quick tips guide for the owner's manual. The car is one owner, pampered, still under factory warranty, and will have an additional warranty while you own it.

All scheduled maintenence done at dealer (free for original owner pre-order cars), but in all honesty my 8 has been virtually vice free. I have never had any flooding problems with the engine (can happen when not properly warmed up and shut off) nor a single time where it failed to start, credit Mazda for eliminating the nightmare twin turbo setup of the 13B in the previous generation RX-7, and me for proper maintenence!

The car has been involved in two minor fender benders: 1) I was rear-ended in crawling traffic speeds. It was a hit and run but the damage is so unnoticeable I never got it fixed. Refer to the pics to see how small the damage is, close-ups available upon request but there is only a small crack in the plastic rear exhaust valence. 2) Left rear wheel well was dented and professionally repaired. I have before/after pics and the paint matches exactly, I am very picky about aesthetics. Noone would ever notice but I am doing my best to disclose any pertinent information.

OK here's what the car has:

Standard features

Power door locks
Power windows
Remote entry & Alarm with immobilizer
Cruise control with steering wheel mounted controls
Rear window defogger
Leather wrapped steering wheel and shift ****
Single disc CD player
Dual front air bags
Side-curtain airbags
Tire pressure monitoring system (a light on the dash tells you when a tire's pressure is low)
Antilock brakes (ABS)

Grand Touring Package

Heated, Dual-tone leather seats (Red/Blk)
Xenon self-leveling, headlights
Fog lights
Sunroof
Auto-dim rearview mirror with Home Link (you can program your garage door to open with one of the three buttons)
Heated side mirrors
Power drivers seat
300 watt, 9 speaker Bose stereo
Dynamic Stability Control (DSC)
18" wheels
Sport tuned suspension
Limited slip differential
Larger brakes
Aluminium racing style foot pedals

Extras my RX-8 also includes:

Style:
4 keys including an upgrade to a 2005 switchblade key (why did a $35k car come with less?)
Window Etching (insurance discount & theft deterrent)
Silver Fender Strakes (really completes the front fenders)
Mazda JDM clear corners
Matching Percentage Tint all around, which really keeps the interior looking new and guards against the hot Houston sun

Performance:
K&N Typhoon Intake (Induction sound + 5-10 HP increase)
HKS Legamax Cat-Back Exhaust (10-15 HP increase, throaty sound)
Eibach Pro-Kit Springs (15-20% stiffer than stock, better body control, reduced dive and pitch, and much better handling)
Hawk Brake Pads installed new at 33k miles
Recent Tires
Cross-Drilled and Slotted Rotors (never installed)

In modifying the car, it was important to me to keep a balance and make sure the entire package worked together to enhance stock style and performance. For example, lowering the stance and adding clear corners, fender strakes, and tint cleans up the look and avoids the boy-racer/rice-rocket look of "aerodynamic" add-ons like a body kit. Suspension and brakes were also improved to match power increases so the package is pretty mildly tuned... but unlocks the potential of the car. The results are well coordinated I think, and I always get comments from people who can not figure out why my RX-8 is so much nicer than stock form. I suggest looking at other RX-8's and then come see and drive mine so you will know the difference. In the meantime, you can draw your own judgements from the pics. Thanks, and feel free to contact me for any more info, I'm looking to get around the mid $20k range.

$25k is kinda steep for a 2004. 17.5 to 20 is probably max you gonna get. Good luck with the sale.

Thanks, yea I realize 25k is a bit steep. When I see these cars go for that kind of money it just makes me wish I would have bought my NSX instead of the RX8 back then. Mazda really made a mistake by not coming out with another RX7 in my opinion, but I was hyped about the return of the rotary at that time so I ordered one. Still, a great car but just not quite fulfilling as some people would like. I'm hoping that with the $2k in parts and labor and the $3k in unused warranty that I would be able to recover some of that is why I was looking for low-mid $20k range, the car really is a pristine example if you look at the pics again... =)

I'll lower the price to $20k. IMO, it's a great deal for this car with the history, extra warranty, parts, and condition. All of that cost me $37k
