MD 2005 Mazda Rx8 GT

Year: 2005
Make: Mazda
Model: RX-8
Price: $9000
Mileage: 97000
Color: Whitewater Pearl
Private or Dealer Listing: Private Listing
Location (US State/Canada/Int): MD

I've had the car for a little over a year and a half, and I've put maybe 6000 miles on it. It's stays parked most of the time and I might take it out once every two weeks at the most. It runs great, I've put a few performance parts on it to give it a boost. It has R-Tech 90 Rims, Mazda Speed spoiler and side skirts, black 20% tinted windows, tinted taillights, black eyelids, Racing Beat Header, Rear exhaust, and Rev-I intake. It has new plugs, wires, changed the oil about 500 miles ago. It has heated seats, side mirrors and back window, and power driver’s seat and sunroof. It has an all-black leather interior with a Bose sound system and a 6 disc in dash CD changer. It's an automatic with the manual option which is great for the Maryland area. If you're stuck in traffic keep it in automatic if you want to have a little fun switch it to manual and you can change the gears yourself with the shifter or on the steering wheel. It is in good shape, but it does have a few small problems and I would love to sell it to someone who would build it up into a showcar.
It has 97,000 miles on it. The ECU needs to be mapped which is a small ordeal that costs less than $100, and it needs new tires. It has aftrmarket rims so the tire pressure light is always on, and also the coolant level light coms on frequently. I was told that the red coolant light is a frequent error with 2005 RX8s by my local Mazda mechanic. The reason for it is that the sensor that measures the coolant level in the radiator goes bad frequently and says that the coolant level is low, wen after checking the coolant you realize it is full. When the car gets heated up this sensor malfunctions and says that there is low coolant when there actually is not. Other than those four very small easy to fix and/or get used to problems the car is in very good condition for the miles and has had no mechanical errors in my two years of ownership. E-mail me for more pictures or to set up a time to test drive it!

what makes you say "the ecu needs to be mapped"?

If this is a stock ECU, and no engine modifications have been done, this doesnt really make much sense.

Just trying to clear this up, or it will confuse potential buyers.

Rims + tint looks really nice, good luck with sale...

I have the Racing Beat Rev-i intake with duct installed, plus the Racing Beat header and rear exhaust installed. The increased intake and exhaus of air through the engine offsets the air to fuel ratio. The ECU just needs to be remapped to have more fuel input to match the air input and output.

My main reason for believing this is the issue is because there is a slight stutter when there is no throttle applied and it is idling at a low RPM. I believe this is because of the performance modifications and air to fuel ratio as I listed above, but if this incorrect please let me know so I can stop misinforming people!!!

Oh, and yes it is the stock ECU.

And this is a great deal, especially for MD. Mot prices are around 12000-14000 for the same mileage that I have been finding

I'm located in Glen Burnie Which is just south east of Baltimore. I'm glad you understand what a bargain this is. I had a guy offer $7,000 for it the other day and I would have probably punched him if I was face to face. That's ridiculously insulting.

If you wanted to come see it that would be fine with me.

Understand the defects that I've mentioned throughout this e-mail before coming to look at it though PLEASE!!! I have had far to many people offer me too low because they see the tires are low and a dumb light on the dash that scares them away because they know nothing about cars.

The whole reason it is for sale for 9k is because it has a few things wrong with it! If there was nothing wrong with it like no lights on the dash and new tires I would sell it for 11,000.

You can easily fix the things rong with the car for maybe 700 dollars. The lights on the dash I would say to just know that they man nothing instead of spending the money for the worthless parts to get the light go away. Instead of replacing the radiator sensor to get the light off the dash, install a better, aftermarket, radiator and cooling system with the 2k difference and you'll be better off! Then just reprogram the ECU to ignore the tire pressure and you are good to go!!!
