Why Zaino/Wax a New Car?

Call me a retard, but why do you Zaino and/or wax a new car? I have always heard to wait 2/3 months before waxing. Would someone please fill me in? Thanks!

I waxed mine to add a nice protective coating to the brand new finish. I hope it reduces potential swirl marks and scratches.

Once you bring home your new car the battle begins, how to preserve it in its new state. we know this is impossible since all things decay but if you wax or zaino or Klasse (my preference) you can help preserve your paint. 2-3 months later is okay but why not keep it as new as possible.

retard...there I said it...sorry.

get Klasse. Its an acrylic polish

easier than wax and Zaino, better protection than wax, oz for oz cheaper than say vs Zymol.

Right. My RX-8 was built in May. I took delivery on July 22. That's... 2 months+.

The paint has had plenty of time to cure after leaving the factory, sitting on the docks, sitting in the transport ship, sitting on the docks, transporting to dealer, etc.

By the time a buyer picks up his new Japanese-built or European-built car, the paint will be properly cured and ready for a protective coating of wax.

Regards,
Gordon

I for one seriously doubt the factory and/or the dealership uses the best quality wax/acrylic finish, nor do I think they put as much time, effort, and loving care into the finish. That's why I do it myself.

As a matter of fact, I'm right in the middle of my RX-8's first detailing. I washed it thorougly and carefully, and I've given it a clay bar treatment. Now I get to start waxing. It's a lot of work, but right now after just the clay bar, it already looks tons better then it did when I picked it up!

My neighbor (s2000 owner) works in the auto industry and tells me today's paints water based and all don't require any curing. I will Zaino as soon as I determine if I have any high rpm problems in the next week or so when I pass 600 miles. No point in wasting an afternoon Zainoing if I am going to return the car to mazda.

Waxing? Of Course!

The real reason is that it is a labor of love! Let's all admit it right now! The car already looks awesome, and it can only help to bring out the shine!

I used Zaino this last weekend and it: (1) Was a Helluvalotta work; (2) Well worth the effort! The car seems to shine that much more and the paint feels great! Bugs seem to deflect and their body parts seem less prone to adhering themselves to the car!

Happy rubbing! Next weekend....you guessed it....another coat of Zaino!!!
