Wheels and wax

I've been reading about the wheels pitting. Will waxing them help prevent it? Is there a special kind of wax to use?

wheels are painted and cleared in the same manner regular paint is, any wax will work.

but, wax melts at about 120f, and your wheels get much hotter than that, so the protection effect doesn't really do much for you.
