Wheel/Brake rust
I have had the car for about 9500 miles and there has been a visible amount of rust on the brake rotors. Is this unusual. I keep the car outdoors 24/7 and have had it for 8 months. What can i do to get the rust off? I think i saw something in mazda's warranty that said it would cover rust, but im not sure this is the type they would cover.

All of mazda's brake rotors rust at the hub. Mine started to rust with 30 miles on the car. The dealer will refinish your rotors but in a few months they will rust again. It is a problem with most cars but our rims don't cover enough to not see it. I am living with it until I have enough miles to replace my rotors with something of a little higher quality.

Sorry, but i am new to most technical terms. is TSB a tech bulletin, and where can i find it? Do i need to show it to my dealer in order for him to fix the rust problem, or can i just go to him without it?

I had mine painted by the dealer with no hassle but some have found it difficult to get dealers to do the work under warranty. Your dealer will have to dig for this one.
It is NOT a TSB. Have them do a ESI search with 2004/RX8/Brakes. It will post as an "MRI" (mazda repair information) {from Snap-on}

I had my rotors replaced under warrenty after 40 miles. they did show signs of rusting right away. I then purchased a product at home depot called hammerrite which I painted the hub of the rotor and caliper. I painted it black so it shows thw wheel off really nice and it does not void out the warrenty.

Depends on the dealer but the metal that is used in the rotors is very porous pot metal. The best paint in the world would not help. The breaks get so hot and hot brake dust hits the rotor and damages the paint leading to more rust.
