Zaino rocks. It is, by far, the best polish system I've ever used. BUT -- now that Roxy has lost her garage spot to the GTO and gets parked outside, I've given up on Zaino for her -- too expensive. I've switched to Meguiar's Tech Wax; I don't like it as much as Zaino but it's more economical.
The garage queens (GTO and '00 Miata) are still Zaino babies.

Recently bought the new Z8. Real pricey but is does what Z6 does only better. Sal Zaino said its like "Z6 on steroids". I had some money to burn so WTH.
I use:
ZFX Flash Cure Accelerator Additive
Z-2 PRO Show Car Polish for Clear Coated Car Finishes
Z-6 Ultra Clean Gloss Enhancer Spray
Z-7 Show Car Wash
Z-8 Grand Finale Spray Seal
Z-18 ClayBar
Really fine products all of them

Yea, I ordered the Z6 yesterday, along with the Z-PC (i'm sick of swirls), ZFX and Z-2. I think I'll stick with my current car wash, shouldn't be a big deal.

Zaino is acid resistant (so it protects against acid rain) but is washed off by bases. You don't want to use a wash that has a base ph.
It's been a year and a half since I did the full zaino treatment and I use zaino's wash. Still looks and feels great.

BTW, I coated my winter wheels with 2 coats of Zaino Z-2 Pro (and Z6 in between and at the end) according to this advice from Sal Zaino and:
1) there's less brake dust and dirt sticking to the wheels. Now, it's winter time so there's still plenty of crap, but it's still nicer.
2) wheel are shiny/nicer when clean and nicer when not as clean
3) all the brake dust, dirt, yellowing crap, etc comes RIGHT OFF with just a wipe with car shampoo! (in my case, QEW) i **** you not. no scrubbing or harsher action, except for road tar. i don't use wheel cleaner (because most are too strong for the wax), but i don't really need to: just wipe the wheels w/ a watery/soapy towel/mitt.
so i am going to put like three coats of zaino on my summer wheels this spring.

I use Meguiar's Gold Class, though it's the thicker paste (in a can) versus the liquid bottled stuff used in the test. Not sure if that makes a difference. I'm pretty disappointed with how the Meguiar's performed in the test. I haven't noticed that short of longevity with my wax yet... but I applied it shortly before winter, so my car has been mostly in the garage for the past couple of months. If my Gold Class wears off as easily as that in the test, I may just have to switch to Zaino...

I use a combination of Meguiar's and Mother's carnuba. The Meguiar's cleaner and polish give the car a great wet look, but the Mother's makes a harder finish that lasts longer than the Meguiar's. I used this combo on my last car for all of the ten years that I owned it, and when I sold the car it had a very nice factory fresh finish on it, although I never garaged the car. Stuff rocks.

I just waxed my '8 for the first time. Being as money is short (thus no Zaino) and I wanted to get wax on it asap, I went off in search of Liquid Glass. Apparently the closest NAPA store that carries it is Jacksonville, so I went with Meguires Tech Wax instead. I think I was out in the parking lot in front of my college gym for about an hour, hour and a half.
Some lady saw me and said that since we both had "cute cars" I should wax hers next (it was an Audi TT) and then some kids walked by and didn't see me, only that I took up 4 parking spaces and referred to me as an @$$hole, but then saw me crouched behind my '8 and hopefully changed their minds.
Overall, it looks really good despite me finding a small chip in the paint (and I don't even have 1,000 miles on it yet!) it looks great. Might do a second layer tomorrow depending on what it looks like and the weather. Hopefully it will last for a good while.

Well a buddy of mine who swears by zymol wants to do a test and put it against zaino. I already know what Meguiars can do so this weekend we are going to zymol my 8 and his acura with his wax. (I get free wax!!!!) We will then in about a month or two try zaino and see how it goes. I'll keep updating this post as I go along. I'll post pics as well...

I have always used Meguiars. I used to use the gold class paste. Now I use the NXT liquid wax. I do notice it wears off very fast. In fact after the first rain it usually doesn't feel much different than before I waxed it. And I usually do 2 coats. After reading that I'm going to give Zaino a try.

I believe I am going back to NXT on my Brilliant Black. I dont have a garage and the constant need for washing and waxing in Florida is not very Zaino friendly. I need to be able to wash and wax my car before 10am.

I have used most of the other mequiars products and find that they create a lot of swirls. Always found that I had to start any Meguiars day with their swirl remover. Don't tell me about keeping the cloths clean. I always start with clean 100% cotton terry and discard when done. No matter, could never get totally swirl free with meguiars.
