Water spots
Hey all,
I just got my RX-8 after much drooling over it. When i get it home i notice that there are water spots on the front windshield. I tried normal glass cleaner, white vinegar and soap and water. They are still there. Alot fainter than before but still there. I know this is the dealerships doing because i can see where the sticker was when at the dealer. The area where the sticker was is water spot free. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

I've used a household cleaner called "Bon Ami" It has gotten anything off of glass that I've used it with. Just wet it, generously sprinkle some on, and wipe thoroughly with a sponge for a few minutes and rinse..... {that sounded like directions from a shampoo bottle didn't it....?} oh well......give it a shot.....

One of the guys at Autopia.com says he cleans stuff off of glass w/ a claybar w/ great results. I couldn't get logged on there but you can probably find it by doing a search for claybar.

Rain X just gives me bad haze that lasts for 2 weeks and then the windows stay clear afterwards, which is good. I have done this claybar on window thing. It works! I was concerned about scratching it but so far, no scratch.

The key to Rain-X is apply it to a perfectly clean window. First use a glass cleaner/polish, not windex or the likes. Then apply the Rain-X. Let it haze and wipe it. Then come back in about 10 minutes and wipe it again.

There is a cleaner called "CLR" sold to remove lime deposits in the household cleaners section of any grocery/department store, even WalMart. DO NOT LET IT GET ON YOUR TRIM. Use this full strength, wearing gloves - will take it off almost instantly.
