I wouldnt say that. They really have two different purposes for me. NXT to lay down a good base. ICE to freshen it up after a wash or two.

ICE > Spray Detailers (and they work just as easily).

 

I use an "up and down" wiping motion...
You get a better shine that way.

 

MikeTyson8MyKids - i meant using it as a base coat not a lsp (last step protection). i dont know what happens when you top ICe over NXT but usually when some sort of synthetic wax is topped over another one the top one will not bond if its not the same kind.

EyeBall - well it depends. follow the flow of wind. side to side on the sides of the car and up and down on the front.

 

So far it seems to be bonding ok. ICE is different than lots of other synthetics. It uses a silicone material to deliver the wax. Seems to work ok, just doesnt last more than a few weeks I guess. I'll let everyone know after I get done with my road trip through rain and stuff this weekend. Should be a good test.

Tried Ice for the first time. Also bought the Mr Clean system. For my water, the Mr Clean rinse worked great and left no water spots. As stated before, Ice will just cover the water spots so the Mr Clean worked well for me. Started losing sunlight to see the car and probably did not let it dry well enough before buffing with a micro towel. I am going to get new pads for my buffer so it will be easier next time. Looks good.

 

I didnt completely give up on ICE. But here are a few things:

1) Do not use the supplied applicator. Mine at least was not a good foam and could scratch your surface.

2) Doesnt appear to last very long. Like a week or two at the most in the hot St. Louis sun. When I used it, it was more than 100 degrees every day, so in cooler areas it may work a lot better.

3) It has lots of cleaners in it of the chemical kind. I had new NXT down and I think the ICE just ate it up, maybe in combination to the heat.

Thats the results I got. I'm using Duragloss #105 and thier Aqua Wax. Much better!

P.S. I still use ICE on all the trims. Works better for that than it did for the paint. haha

 

I used Da ICE about a 1.5 months ago and the water still beeds well, its shiny, my shoulder is not dislocated from buffing like other waxs, and the trim (black parts) look awesome with it on. Go ahead and look in the upper right. I live there too.

I use it every month between waxes... I love it...

 

All these products you guys talk about are copies of Nu-Finnish.

I do believe the ICE is just a polish especially since there web site claims that ant the testamonials of members here that says it doesn't last long.

That's what polish products do.

I'll stick with NU-Finnish. It last forever. Especially if you put on two coats.

While Zaino and other products may and just may have improved on the technology,

NU-Finnish is just easier to apply, much less expensive, and gives the same or better results
as Zanio when speacking in terms of ROI.

Tried Ice for the first time this weekend after my now standard Mr. Clean wash. I'm very impressed by the ease of application, no residue, and ability to go over all the plastic trim as well as the paint. Sorry my former love Meguair's, but Ice is just too easy to pass up. More frequent applications, if actually required, will be no problem given the time savings in application and buff. And as cited, a little really does go a long way.

OK, but I'm a bit of a waxaholic (four waxes in six months thus far), so I'll most likely not reach anywhere near the expected duration.

 

I washed and waxed my GF's TT (no jokes please) this weekend. I washed with dawn, rinsed with Mr. Clean (best thing I have found so far to keep my hard water deposits off my car), waxed with Mothers pure Carnuba wax, then Iced it. She commented that it was the shiniest she has seen it. The Carnuba wax is a pain and leaves white residue in tiny rock chips that the Ice makes transparent but you gotta believe the car is waxed well now. I like Carnuba for a good coat.

When I wash my car between waxes I use one of those spray on waxes that can go on while the car is wet as I dry off the car with one of those Absorber towels, again one of the best products I have come across. Supposedly the spray wax I use has some carnuba in it.

 

Ya, I have a friend who has an Audi TT and is bigtime into car stuff. He has a TON of mods and his dad is an enthusiast as well. His daily driver is a Dodge Ram pickup that is chipped that he claims can beat a Viper off the line and he also has a 2006 Lotus Exige. He only uses Nu-Finish with a buffer and I have never felt paint so smooth. You could put anything on the hood of that Lotus and whatever it was would just slide right off. I value his opinion and years of experience with these products so I'm thinking I'm going to use it this weekend with a buffer. We will see how that goes though since our cars have so many crevices and hard to reach lines. I will post pics if it all goes down though.

 

I have an orbital buffer but it would not take off either the carnuba or ice. The only thing that I have found to remove the ice haze is a microfiber cloth. I tried some cotton cloths and they did not take it off either. I did go over the whole car with the buffer once I was satisfied that I had gotten off the haze by hand.

 

I use this frequently and absolutely love it... but yeah, definitely set aside at least an hour to let the wax dry because 10-15 isn't going to cut it.

i took my car to the dealership to handle the 4206F recall and got it back, MY CAR looked better then any other RX8 on the lot and mine is a 2004.

This stuff works and if done atleast 1 time every 2 weeks then You will see such a good result that it is shocking..........

also this is good for the interior of the car, you can apply to the seats, door panels, plastic trim on mirrors and bumper, dash, and just about anything your put it on. It preserves your car and makes it shine.

I tried it. Didn't like it at all. Seemed like the stuff never actually dried. Not to mention I couldn't tell where I'd applied it so I kept having to go over the same area to make sure it was all off. I no likey! I'll stick with good ol Zaino or LG.

 

i keep my turtle wax ice and use it on my dad's car.... lol

 

I use it on the trims. Put it on, let it sit for a bit, then wipe it off. If you wipe it off, it doesnt streak or waterspot at all and it seems to last longer than a regular plastic dressing.

On paint, I dont like.

 

I'm currently using ICE and am fairly pleased with the result. I like the lacquered look that it gives; it's different from the gloss of a wax, but still shiny and good looking. However in my opinion ICE doesn't look it's best until you wash it at least once after the application and apply the ICE quick detail. This then removes the residue that you didn't know was still on there. For me, it still beads water very well a month after the application. Good product, but I might be switching in the future since the protective qualities of ICE are unproven.

 

Any updates?

I am thinking of using this on my BB. Sounds like I should not use the supplied applicator and let it dry about an hour, b/c 10-15 minutes is too short, and I should keep using my Costco bulk microfiber to wipe the stuff off.

If I don't use the applicator, what should I use?
