Just bought the stuff yesterday. Was confused on whether or not to get the spray or the bottle of the stuff with an applicator pad. Oh well, I bought the spray because it sounded easier to apply and I also bought some microfiber towels to apply it on. I have a BB 8 so I will take some before/after pics when I put it on tomorrow. I have a family reunion to go to today.

you bought the quick detailer, it's not wax. The wax is in the bottle.

Crap! Haha, ok not a big deal... A good excuse to drive my car some more!

So, should I do the spray stuff after the wax? Or before? Or is it an either/or situation?

Thanks swoope.

I just went to the Turtle Wax website and they said that this is not a wax. They called it a "polisher." No where in the description of this product did they mention the word wax. Could someone please enlighten me on what the difference is between a wax and a polisher?

Also, I don't know much about this stuff, but it seems like this is more of a polish to me since it is so liquidy. That's why I screwed up in the first place because I thought that they were the same product. Both very liquidy and not thick looking at all.

By definition, a polish is mildy abrassive and should be used before waxing. Turle Wax may have developed a new definintion of a polish because they say to use it between waxes. Is that when the wax is completely off or when the current wax is fading? Or do you apply it just prior to waxing like a true polish? Unclear. The compounds of ICE are not on the label either. I used it and it seems like a decent product but I would like more clarity myself.

Here's Meguiar's take.

Today there is a lot of confusion about the difference between a polish and a wax. Many manufacturers are marketing waxes as "polishes" and the terms have become almost interchangeable.

Professionals know there is a big difference. A polish is more like a paint conditioner that restores valuable oils to the paint, eliminates fine scratches and creates incredible high gloss not possible with waxes. An application of a pure polish should be followed by waxing to protect the shine and extend its life.

By the definition, TW Ice polish should only be used after the car is washed and before the next waxing which usually equates to every six months to a year. Since a polish mildy breaks down paint, using it more frequently could shorten the life of the paint. This is how I intend to use it but if i'm wrong i'm open to more guidance.

polishes aren't suppose to break down paint... more like clear coat. in this case though, i think Ice Polish is a filler polish/wax so its pretty safe. its not going to shorten the life of the paint but i think you will have to do it more than once every 6 months. will need multiple layers for clear coat protection. anyone know how long Ice lasts?

Ok, called Turtle Wax at 1:50 am and I was impressed! Someone took my call and said the Ice Spray Detailer is is a "water based synthetic polmer, clarified carnuba wax" safe to use after washing and drying your car. 1-800 Turtle Wax. Man I need a freakin girlfriend!

Ok, thanks for yall's help. That was another question I had: Can you apply the ICE wax everytime you wash the car or not? I think that to be safe until all of this has been cleared up I am just going to stick to the polisher and see how that goes.

So , does that mean I should use the Oily Bottle and the applicator first. after I rub my whole car, then I use the Spray on my car ?

I got both , but I didnt use the Spray yet (its already very shinny)

no... you use the spray detailer after you wash the car. the wax wasn't meant for after every wash. you either use one or the other.

this is the order:

wash, wax..
wash, spray
wash, spray
wash, spray...

whenever until you decide to wax again.

or you can be like me and just wash, wax, wash, wax. <---not really how you're suppose to do it. i really should follow my own words but i like waxing.

So does this mean that I can apply the wax say every other wash? Using the spray between each step of course.
