touch up paint from Mazda?
I have seen a couple of posts were it sounded like Mazda has sent some 8 owners touch up paint. Is this a dealership thing or a Mazda thing?
I have a REALLY bad chip right by the fog light and I am thinking I am going to give the touch-up and Langka a go.
I do have a couple of questions though.
1) I have heard that you can get LANGKA from some auto stores. Anyone know which ones? Will Pep Boys or Autozone have it?
2) Clear Coat... Is Mazda one of the mfgs that offers two bottles for touch up? One paint, the other clear? Has anyone tried to do the LANGKA clear coat stuff?
3) I have seen some posts on happy consumers of the LANGKA product. Anyone have before and after pix?

I should probably also ask:
I notice that the LANGKA site talks a lot about fixing Metal surfaces. Is there any reason this would not work on the plastic bumper?

I just got some touch-up paint for free from mazda in the mail so I did get it for free. No, it did not included any clear coat, but may have some type of clear mixed into it to make it appear shiney. I have not used the langka product, but have used similar products and they all mostly dont work to well. All you really have to do is build up the area very slowely with the paint and get some 1500 or 2000 grit sandpaper and wet sand very gently. Then let dry for a couple of days and wax it.

I could not find a place in town that sold that LANGKA so I just ordered it from their site... Once I get it I will try and do some before/after pics and post

I don't know anything about Langka, but I did recieve a small bottle of touch up paint from (I guess) Mazda. It came in a circular package that had a steering wheel engraved in it. Although I may be completely off and it might have been from the dealership. I'll take pics of the package if you want.

My paint package (as described above) showed up about 4-5 weeks after purchase of the car. I was told by my salesman that it would come from Mazda - that's why it would take "so long".

I received two small bottles of the touch up paint - one from Mazda (in the big round black package with the Mazda emblem) and one from the dealer in a padded envelope.
I bought my RX8 in August - the paint from the dealer arrived in January, the one from Mazda in February.

I received my complementary bottle about a month after I bought my '8.
How bad is the chip? If you can't see it from a distance, it might not be worth worrying about. The nose, as far as I can tell, is just plastic; thus, you wouldn't have to worry about rust / corrosion. The front end will inevitably get small nicks in the paint. You'll spend years on fixing them if you worry about every one. OTOH, if it is big enough, and you've got the free stuff, why not.

I received mine 3-4 weeks after purchase in a round package from Mazda. A nice touch ... pleasant suprise. It included a new accessory brochure. Given all the junk on the beltway and other roads around here, I'll probably have to use it in the near future.

Look at www.autopia.org for their downloadable detailing guide. There's a chapter on how to touch up chips.

Buffing out scratches.
My dealer is buffing out a scratch on the door. Should the buffed area be clearcoated again since they have to get to the pigment to over the scratches?
