Took Off the Wind Deflector
I decided my car, a 2004 Black, would look better if I took off the wind deflector. I did, and though it looks great, there are major marks where the deflector was on. They're not even just marks, I'm talking straight dented lines, scratches, blemishing, everything. I polished it by hand as best as I could, and waxed it up. How can I fix this? Is PDR worth it now?

I had a similar problem when I removed mine from my black 8. Was on only a few months after I bought the 8. I had to use claybar and several coats of cleaner/polisher to diminish the marks. IMO the longer you leave that deflector on the worse it'll be.

Dust, dirt and almost anything else builds up under the rubber stripping on those deflectors and over time moves around thus creating the marks you mention. Now depending on the severity of the damage, the easiest method is with a heavy polishing compound and a PC. Much like any major swirl mark/scratch removal process. Now if you can take your fingernail and it catches on the scratch then it's to deep for just a polishing method. Good luck.

Good luck! Those deflectors are awful. I tell everyone on her to take them off if I see their 8 with them on. I guess they don't care how ugly they are and what damage they are doing to the paint.
