roof strips
roof strips
Here's a little bit of advice. Don't ever wax the roof strips on your car. I made that mistake and now they are no longer glossy. seems that the wax i used,(meguiars gold class) took off whatever kind of clearcoat or gloss that was on those strips.

Roger that! I had to have some scratches buffed out that were left behind after I removed the sunroof wind deflector. Buffer got a little too close to one of the strips and poof took the coating and paint right off. Can't see it unless your standing over it looking for it but I know it's there.
I've never seen those listed anywhere for sale. You may have a hard time finding them. And I can bet if you go through a dealership you'd pay out the *** for them. IMO the best bet is to try and find some from a wrecked 8 or just repaint them.
I used Meguiars on my new BB too. It scuffed one of them up really nice!
Dealer replaced them under warranty and told me they are around 100 bucks each.
Didn't have any problem with the ones on my 04 S.Silver, must be a paint issue.

Good deal! I'm not sure if that would work for me, even though I still have around 2 1/2 years left on warranty. Wouldn't hurt to ask though. Eyeball, did they ask how they got scuffed? 100 each sounds pretty high for a couple pieces of flimsy plastic.

My dealer quoted me $193 each strip! Since my car has only 11k miles, they told me to bring it in to see if it may be covered under warranty... Now I get to do the whole "is it covered under warranty" song and dance.
I had a hole in my ac condenser earlier this year. My dealer said that it would not be covered under warranty because a rock had hit it. When they couldn't find a dent, they had no choice but to replace the condenser. Shortly after I installed the racing beat oil cooler and condenser screens. This whole fiasco took about 2 months to resolve.

I was able to have them replaced under warranty. They look so much better now. I noticed when I was at the Mazda dealer though, that all of their "new" cars had scuffed up roof moulding. Im never going to wax those strips again.

Maybe yours are different somehow?

It seems like a lot of people have the same issue with the mouldings on the 8. Even when I was at the dealer all of their new cars had the same issue.
Now they are brand new becuause they were replaced by the dealer. I don't know if these new ones can handle being washed and waxed like the rest of the car.
Only time will tell.
Funnything I've never have that problem.
I use Nu Finnish. I also, just put the wax on very lightly over the strips. No rubbing at all.
Maybe it's the way you apply the wax and clean it before hand.
