Plastic/Leather protectants, are they bad long-term?

I heard that products like Armor-All absorb chemicals into your interior leather or rubber/plastic interior that actually dries out the materials in the long run. Is this true?

Which products should I avoid?

Currently I use Pennzoil TotalCare Car Protectant. So far it works great, but should I be worried?
