Smile PB SSR2.5 + Mothers Glaze + Mothers Pure Carnuba Wax = :)

After reading some posts about swirl marks, I bought what I thought I needed in PoorBoys SSR 2.5.

I thought SSR3 would be too abrasive for my swirls, and I knew the basic stuff wouldn't give me the results I was hoping for.

Well, let me tell you that the SSR 2.5 is magic

I started by just removing any dirt (my car had been handwashed just a few days earlier) with a wet microfibre towel.

I confirmed no dirt/dust, and applied the SSR using a sponge applicator per the instructions.

I did not use my orbital, as it only has 1 setting (on), so I used good 'ole hand power.

I followed the instructions and buffed in a firm circular motion, until the SSR turned powdery.

I wiped it off with a clean microfibre towel, and applied Mothers Sealant/Glaze using a microfibre towel.

Removed the Glaze with yet another clean microfibre towel, and applied Mothers Pure Carnuba Wax using a clean sponge pad.

After drying to a haze, I removed the wax using a large microfibre towel, and I am left with an awesome, swirl free shine.

I have taken very good care of the body/paint of my VR 8 since I bought her, and I have spent quite some time on these, and other forums, finding the best ways to properly take care of my babe

I'd like to thank the RX-8 peeps that help out with paint/wax Qs.

I know Zaino is an awesome product, yo! But Mother's has served me well, and the Pure Carnuba is very easy to apply, difficult to apply incorrectly, and easy to remove

Cheers,

Ed

I don't know if you did much swirl removal by hand with SSR because SSR takes heat to break down and by hand you simply don't get that. I'd venture to say you more or less filled in the swirls with the glaze and the 'nuba having some hiding properties to it. Did you check the finish after each product?

Yes I did check!

I have clabarred, used a couple of diff swirl/scratch removers, and by far, the SSR gave me the best results.

The instructions clearly state that use by hand is acceptable. I would imagine that an orbital would give perhaps more consistant results, and faster.

As for heat doing the work, umm, not sure about that. SSR is an abrasive. Like sandpaper, the abrasive particles break down as it works.

I very well may have simply filled in some swirl marks, but I don't honestly think SSR, the Glaze, or the Wax is fine enough to do that.
