NXT on pearl white
NXT on pearl white
Today i went to buy some NXT and washed my whitewater pearl 8. After i finished with the NXT my 8 didnt really seem any shinier than before...is this because of the color white or did i do something wrong. I dont think i wasnt putting too much or too little of the NXT, but it just doesnt seem to shine like other cars on this forum (although its already really bright in the daylight). Next time i wash it with a non-wax removing soap, can i just add another layer of NXT and wipe it off to see a difference or will I just be wasting it??
I'll most likely post some pics of my 8 tomorrow if its not cloudy.

Yeah, white is already bright so your not going to get the shine like the black or ti owners are. You may not be able to see the difference, but trust me... your paint is thanking you. Now that the wax has worn off of my 8, I can really tell the difference. Its still shiny, but it feels totally different. Dirt just sticks now like you wouldn't believe. Did you use any polish before applying the coats of wax?
Sorry Konig....NXT is just a cheap wash liquid. If you really want your white to gleam, get Zaino. Sure, I'm probably a broken record in terms of posts on the subject, but honestly it will make your white reflect surfaces like no tomorrow. Have you clayed your car? Make sure you clay first, then get ZFX and Z2 to polish, followed by Z6. Do two ZFX/Z2, Z6 applications first out. Also, get the Z7 wash concentrate for between polish washes...amazing.
I respectfully disagree, Genesis. I do not contest the effectiveness of Zaino. I have seen a number of 8's on this forum that were Zaino'd and look great. But while NXT isn't as pricey as Zaino, it still produces very good shine and decent durability. NXT has at least as good a resulting gloss as Zaino, as many others in our community have attested, even if it must be applied more frequently than Zaino (as is the case with almost every wax/sealant under $15--3-6 weeks as opposed to 6 months). I have also read that Zaino works better on dark-colored cars; with lighter-colored cars, you probably won't see much difference between it and NXT. You can do a search and see pictures of other NXT-waxed cars on here for proof. Heck, you can use almost any other product and get a good finished product if you detail correctly. Price does not always equal better immediate results.
Keep in mind that if you're trying to achieve a really wet look, you simply won't get it with white. Also, be aware that your paint is as new and perfect as it will ever be, so differences in appearance after your first few detailings likely won't be very dramatic. As MrThunder mentioned, you might consider polishing before waxing. Prepping your paint is a much overlooked/unknown step that can produce more of the shine that you seek. You could also focus on the post-waxing phase and consider topping two coats of NXT with a carnauba, like s100 (although with winter soon approaching, you may want to use something like #16 that has better durability and provides additional gloss).

I've read NXT does not last as long as Zaino but garage your car at home and work and it wont matter anyway
and Gen just so you know there is NXT wash (what you are confusing with), NXT wax, and NXT booster wax (NXT vinyl protectant too, but I've never used it)
