Need Advice

I need some advice. I bought my RX8 used at the end of March. It was flawless except for a very light scratch on the passenger side rear door. On April 6th we had a hail storm where I live and it damaged my (you'll never believe this) sunlight silver 8, my envoy and my house. My 8 and my wife's envoy were both sent to a large local body shop for repairs.

Three weeks later, my wife's envoy was fixed....looked good - very staisfied. Two weeks after that I went to pick up my 8...not satisfied. It had splotchy paint all over the driver side doors and hood. I asked them to fix it and three more days pass. Go to pick it up again and it still has the problem except not as bad. As I look it over again, I mention that the hood lines weren't right and they missed a dent. They promised to fix it right this time and the guy that has been helping me said that the light silver colors were difficult to get right so they wanted to order a new tip for their gun. OK sure, whatever gets my car fixed.

I went to pick it up for the third time today. They had cleaned it up for me and although it was dusty from sitting under a tree, the paint looked smooth with no "patches". Thank god, I thought. Well, I came home this afternoon and washed it...guess what - the paint is smooth but the prep worked left a lot to be desired. At the rear edge of the door (where it meets the rear door) the paint is twice as thick...you can see a distinct line. There are also some horizontal scratches on the rear suicide door that are in the paint and they didn't blend the paint very well on the rear decklid so you can see yet another line. It looks like they aren't sanding it down each time I bring it back so they just cover up the problems with more paint.

This will be my fourth time to attempt to get it repaired. I am 100% positive this guy knew my expectations to begin with much less the other two times I brought it back...problem is they are never met. Don't get me wrong - I am not expecting a show car. But I also don't expect anything other than for it to be fixed back to its condition before the storm. What do I do? I can't keep this up forever!

Thanks everybody and sorry for the hella-long post.

I hate to tell you this, my bodyshop said its almost impossible to do patch up paint job on any of the 8 colors since all of them used so many mix of different paints. The only way is to paint a whole panel eventhough only a slight chip of paint. Why didn't you go for dentless repair after the hail?

I know this does you no good now (sigh) dent-less repair is the only way to go when repairing hail damage...
It would be interesting to see how many pounds of Bondo they used to screw-up your 8...!?!

They did PDR. The didn't even attempt to do the hood (thank god) and the rear door they wanted to bondo but I threw a fit...so they replaced both panels. That is what they are screwing up on. I really don't think this should be that damn difiicult but hey what do I know.

You are not the only who had hail damage before, there was a yellow one and it was repaired very nicely all over the body I think. I'm surprised your bodyshop didn't recommend a repaint.
