I initially gave it a pretty good review too, but I've become disenchanted. As Squidward points out, the car isn't as clean as it might appear at first glance. It doesn't feel clean, either - the shampoo was apparently engineered to leave some sort of polymer residue, and you can feel it when you run your hand across the surface; it's tacky, not squeaky-smooth.

Apart from that, I finally realized that it's actually faster to just hand-dry the car than to go over it again and again with the sprayer.

So now I've got an additional item for the next yard sale.

 

guys imho, it sucks butt. it leaves a shot load of residue on my paint even after i rinse the crap out of it with the strong water and then the filtered one. I really wanted this think to work well cause it's so damn easy. but I hate to use the age old adage. if it sounds to good to be true....................

btw it is really practical for quick washdown of car and you don't give a crap how it will look in detail. but if you are liek me and want a showroom finish after giving your car a good once over. don't buy the crap.

 

On an earlier post I mentioned my brand new unit's filter door broke when loading. After a month, they sent me a coupon for a new unit, plus a mail label to return the broken unit for evaluation. I have to wrap the old unit for shipping, but they did respond.....after a month. I'm a bit soured on the experience but am willing to give the product a chance.

 

That's all I've used on my car. It works great. My 8 takes a bit of help on the dry time (days with no sun) But my Nx2000 looks like new every time. Same with my wife's WRX. I wash and wax the cars every weekend and detail them every day (pollen season) If you suds up the car and use a sponge there is no residue after rinse. I had no problems, nice clean smooth finnish.

 

I too was skeptical, but went ahead and tried it anyway. Found out that for those frequent washes it works great...with a little help. Try using Mother's Wax as U Dry and a synthetic chamois to quickly "dry" and "wax" your car after rinsing...before all the water sheets off. You can do it in less that 10 minutes and there is no residue...only a great shine and smooooooth feel to the finish.

I just bought the Autodry to clean my old car that I've traded in on my new 8. I found it works pretty well.

Yes it isn't perfect. But I washed my car in about 15 minutes and it looks pretty good. But then again, I'm not exactly a fanatic about my cars and a couple of water spots don't give me a heart attack.

Overall I would recommend the product.

I bought it aswell, I noticed a haze on my wind shield, and a couple of water streaks coming from the gas tank area. Other than that, AutoDry works for me. 1 thumb up.

Not really sure what to say. Everyone knows this is a washing tool not waxing, right? I use it everytime and then whe it dries I use my wax. Like what was mentioned earlier in a post, you can use the wax as u dry stuff too. As far as everyone saying the water spots and the water comes out to slow. You start at the top and work your way down. If you do it correctly, it works. It just takes a little discipline.

I bought the AutoDry stuff about a month ago at Wal-Mart for like 15.00 so I figured what the hell...... the first time I washed the 8 the only spots I noticed were on the sun roof.... I guess this was due to the extremely hot weather and me not rinsing properly the first time.... about a week later I tried it again and it worked great... I like it because it does not leave the water trails from the side mirrors down the doors, the back tail ligts all over the bumper, or the back glass trails down the doors and rear fenders, I can just rinse thoroughly and walk away, and I used the Mequires new synthetic polymer wax on it the last time I used the AUTODRY and had no problems with the wax and it had a great SMOOTH texture to it. Just my thoughts on my good experience.

I have also used it on my friends BLACK Toyota Supra and it worked great...... its a show car/drag car.... so we were leary about using it but it turned out great.......

I just read this thread from start to finish and as I progressed through it I went from 'Sounds badass!' to 'will it fsck up my Zaino?' to 'sounds like crap'.

I'm still interested in the device though because the hard water is pretty bad where I live. I'm thinking about picking one up, tossing the Mr. Clean wash and just loading it up with my Zaino wash. Have any of you tried this? I imagine I'd want to dilute the Zaino wash so I dont use too much, but other than that it seems like it would work well.

 

i just used my autodry for the first time, two days ago. Let me say i love the final product. my car was so clean and the soap worked well on getting the break dust off my rims! i give this product a 9 out of 10.

 

I to would say that the Zaino is really at fault here.. the more wax you put on you paint the more crudd you will get off.. The Zaino just hides the dirt and makes it come of easyer.

remember that just because water beeds on your car does not make a good wax job. Really it is better to have water sheet of your car and not bead up at all... beading water causes the uv rays in the sunllight to magnify heat on the paint surface. This causes pitting. MR clean is designed to sheet water off and leave nothing behind. As many of you have said here. Zaino makes the water Beed up .. This is not what you want..

do some looking around other than here.. you will see that most true hot rodders and detailers will say the same thing.. buy a product that makes the water sheet off .. not bead...


ok no flames please..!! I just see so much about zaino and the 50 coats of wax some of you have on your car and it makes me cringe.... but to each his own.. if you love your Zaino then more power to ya.

 

Just Mr. Cleaned my car yesterday. Works as advertised. A few spots probably due to my missing some areas with the soap. It's probably not good enough for the perfectionists, but for the casual washer who wants "good enough" or the guy who has no time, the Mr. Clean is ideal.

 

I bought this a few weeks ago at Wal-Mart (prior to getting my RX-8 last week) but haven't tried it yet. The water at my house really causes bad spotting, and reached the point that I didn't want to beother ever washing any of my vehicles. My black F-150 looked like crap no matter how fast I tried to dry it. If the weather clears up tomorrow I'll probably try it on the truck first, and then on the 8. Even if I just use it as a rinse, it will probably be worth it.

 

So I finally got this out, and washed my truck. I washed it as I would normally with a chamois, hose & bucket - and before I could get around the vehicle of course it was completely spotted and had awful streaks all over it. Looked like it had been dipped in dirty water. Grabbed the Mr. Clean and set it to the filter rinse - went over the whole vehicle, and then grabbed a chamois and dried it. Since I didn't use the wash that puts that "tacky" feel on it, I figured I would help along the drying. Worked pretty well. Minor spotting that came off with the chamois. A real accomplishment considering how bad the water is at my house. I did the 8 the same way, and was real happy with the results.
While I'm not using it the way its advertised (auto-dry) it's very useful for me, and anyone who has water that causes very bad spotting. I definitely reccommend it, although I doubt I will ever use the "wash" part of it. Just the rinse.

 

I've noticed a few people have used the Mr. Kleen Autodry system and a synthetic, polymer "wax" with good results. I'm asking that those who have done this post exactly what they did. My reason is that I'm a bit confused; specifically about when to spray on the polymer. Do you do it right after rinsing with filtered water or do you let the car dry after a filtered water rinse and then spray on the polymer or what?

Also, anyone tried the Eagle One stuff?

I didn't really allow enough time for a reply. Even so, I tried the Autodry and Eagle One spray & wipe polymer this morning. The results were very good. I saw no water spots, even under sun light, and the finish was very shiny and smooth to the touch; no tackyness at all. The texture when I rub the back of my hand on the paint is not quite as smooth as a waxed finish but it sure took significantly less time. I think I'll continue the process in weekly washes and avoid the in-Zaino process. I want to drive my 8 rather than have to mess with it.
