Ok, I got an idea of what it can do now. I just didn't know if it would clean up the plastic on our cars... like around the exhaust shrouds or something.

My headlights after several days of 100degree weather for some reason started to look like they where stoned. They had a odd technicolor to them. Dealer kept me strung along for over a week about them. Then finaly they tell me they can fix them but its out of warrenty and will take a few days since its a "long involved process". I said "I'll think about it." which translated to "ha.. um no thanks!". I think to myself there has to be another way this color is in deep to the point I believed it was on the inside of the headlights. So I set out to find something to prove them wrong and possibly cure my headlights.

I went to Advanced Auto Parts and found this lil lone bottle of Maguiar's PlastX. I read the label and back instructions and figured I'd give it a go. This stuff works by cleaning up the oxidization and haze of weather and natural wear. I was skeptical at first but after the first use there was a dramatic difference. The technicolor stoned color was gone and the other part of my headlights looked brand new. I waited several hours to see if it was just initial cleaning like some products I've used in the past they look great but a hour later you realize they suck. Well to my surprise the technicolor film or whateva it was stayed gone. I applied another helping to my headlights to make sure and to miss a few small small spec's and yeah I love this stuff now. It only cost $7.50 and you dont use that much (thank you small headlights) to get the job done.

I hope if anyone has a headlight problem they try this product out (wish I did sooner).
umm i have some white buildup on the plastic parts of the car (most noicable in the rear) will this help me out?

damn, I drove my girlfriend's 2000 Tacoma and I couldn't see CHIT out of the lights! I was going to replace the things completely but I think this might be a much better solution. (totally forgot I'd posted on this a while back)

Note to self: Stop by Auto Zone on the way home....

Exactly what parts do you need to use it on?

Do you mean wax buildup on the black trim pieces? I got this, too, before I switched to Zaino, and it's really tough to remove. I used a Mr. Clean Magic Eraser, which seems to remove pretty much anything. I wouldn't use it on the paint, but it will definitely get that white stuff off of the plastic parts.

Good note.
PlastX works best on things like lens and smooth plastic/glass/CF surfaces.
The black trim is best cleaned with Magic Eraser or something of that sort.

Off topic, but I have fissures on my headlights, think it's a defect. It's real bad but only cosmetic. Anyone have this problem.

what are you guys using to apply / remove this stuff. Can I just use a wax applicator pad and a terry or microfiber towel to remove?

Since PlastX is a polish, I use a microfiber cloth to "scrub" off the baked wax and another microfiber cloth to polish the lens clean. If you don't apply wax to the lens again, they will stay clean for a while. Hope this helps...

Hey Jedi... I personaly just used a applicator pad from the local Advance Auto Parts. Just rubbed the stuff in till it dried up.. waited minute or so then flipped the pad over and scrubbed it off. Nothing to fancy since my headlights for the most parts are already knicked beyond belief (thank you MA highways!). I'm sure if I used a more "fine" material next time I'd get way way better results (possibly) but the product did the job I wanted it to. Just nice to see alot of people using this product

I too have "foggy headlights" I thought it was on the inside of the lense. The fog begins on the lower part of the light, then gradually fades out, and its mainly only one side.

will this problem be fixed with such a solution?

I saw it at walmart today and decide to give it a shot, and omg this thing is amazing! The immediate improvement to the headlight/tail light is apparent, I will try it on a 4 years old car tmr and take some before and after picture. But what impressed me the most is how much clearer the instrument panel is after applying that stuff. Worth every penny

I have the same multicolored/ cloudy film on my headlights aswell and I tried this stuff yesterday and it didn't remove everything. I used a cotton rag to buff it onto the headlight and the same to wipe it off. I even tried using a Maguiars power ball to buff it into the headlight and there was still some on there?
