Cool Leather Seat Cleaning/Conditioning

Hi all,

I'm a new RX-8 owner and I have to say that I love this car.

What does everyone use to clean and condition thier leather seats? Mine seen a bit dry and I'm looking for something that will make them more supple. Any thoughts?

I have been using Meguires Leather foam--but Blue Coral makes a good cleaner. Lexol is also very good. The Meguirs Foam leaves a somewhat glossy sheen to the leather; but smells wonderful and leaves it very supple. Also, I have aftermarket leather which covers the entire seat in leather--I believe the GTs only have leather in the inserts; with that said I'm not sure what is the best to use on the rubber-esque seat bolsters.

Meguirs also makes the leather wipes. That is what I use and I like it so far. This is the first car that I have had with leather interior though, so I can't help much.

I was given some Zaino "Z-10 Leather in a Bottle". I've used it several times and I like it a lot. It makes the seats look great. It gives the car a leathery "new car" smell.

Just be sure to find one that doesn't make it slippery. Plenty of good leather conditioners out there.

I bought Meguirs leather wipes. It looks too rich. How do you just apply a thin layer on the seat?

I also used it on my door trim. I've heard people saying leather conditioner shouldn't be used on vinyl. Is it true? Is it going to damage my door panel?

I've used leather conditioner on the door trim as well--but I think that for that Meguires NXT interior trim is the best. It leaves a nice sheen on vinyl and plastic.

303.....

Definitely 303 Protectant for the vinyl sides and the dash, and don't worry, it's not greasy/shiny like ArmorCrap.

I have only used the older Meguires spray-on liquid on the leather, conditions it nicely, but the best part is the aroma! :D

Dre--Careful with those plastic/vinyl protectants that leave them super shiny. With all the plastic paneling in the front and back, making them shiny, as I've found, creates a dangerously high glare that makes it difficult to see when bright light (i.e., sunlight) reflects off of it. I'm with StealthTL and others on this one: switch to 303 Protectant. If you go to their website, you can get free samples.

The Meguir's NXT isn't extremely shiny--I found it to be the best balance of gloss--but thanks for the tip--I'm going to check out the 303 Protectant.

Second vote for the Zaino Z-10 leather in a bottle. Nice finish (not slippery or shiny) and nice smell too.

My Intrepid has leather seats and on those I use Meguires gold class leather cleaner then the conditioner. They come in seperate bottles and are both in gel form. They are NOT glossy and leave the seats almost plush like. They also return the leather smell, smelling like a new car. My vote is with them.

I have been using the Meguirs leather wipes. Very convenient.

But this is the first leather interior I have had, and only since Saturday.
